I am buying a downpipe because my cat is clogging bad. I have the Intense Stage 3 kit installed. I am not the only one with this. BLOWN06 also had his cat clogged and it ruined the internals in his car. After i put on the stage kit it ran good but all the sudden things just didnt sound right or feel right. the stock exhaust sound like its leaking and ill be driving and all the sudden ill feel a burst of power kick in while at WOT. Somethings not right. Now my check engine light is on.

But im just letting everyone know to keep and eye out for there Catalytic Converters clogging. It could be bad if it messes something up. hopefully i cam get my downpipe before the thing really screws up.

 

Where did you order the downpipe from?

 

ZZP. and i know u hate them. im fixing to order it. should i not? I need it fast and Cobalt addiction doesnt seemt o have fast shipping. so i am going to go ZZP

 

I dont hate them. There sending me a new header that will be here on tuesday. Its just the downpipe I got from them doesnt sound good. I called them and they said it will always have a noise comming from it. So if you can deal with the noise go with the zzp. But im just trying to give you the heads up. Anyone else want to chime in? If I had a second chance I would of went with the cobalt addiction.

 

If your going with the zzp I would get the catless one and weld one in later if you need it for smog.

 

well i dont need emissiond for 3 years. so i could do that. thats a good idea. save money now and need to do it later

 

Ya im pretty sure the crappy sound is from the high flow cat. Plus its like 100 dollars cheaper to get it without it. Call zzp and make sure they have them in stock sometimes they run out.

 

damn man I guess im the only one thats gonna have the dezod 2.75 downpipe! I cant believe people arent even considering it.

 

Isnt that one like $404 dollars plus shipping. Dont get me wrong it looks real nice but its pretty pricey.

who is, dezod? I just hear that the 3 inch is pointless alot so I just got the 2.75. Yea its $404 but im sure you can get a discount for being a member. Plus you might be able to get a discount for ordering both the catback and downpipe together....

 

cobalt addiction usually ships same day or next day... the only complaint I"ve seen where from the idiots ordering on a sat or sun when they were closed and e-mailing them like 30 times for a tracking number... I deal with them all the time and never had a problem... People just have to realize that some things are on manufacturer backorder I.E aeroforce gauges... and their downpipe sounds much better than the ZZP only one cobalt has the ZZp around here and it sounds like crap.... but I do love ZZP Pulleys

 

i havd tha smae thing happen with my cat......so i just gutted it now it runs great cept for black smoke at wot bc of runnin so rich

 

so which would u do. just gut the stock cat or buy a downpipe? I think it will be best just to get the cat on there

 

get the downpipe... stock one sux anyway.... crimps down in places... if you want order a d.p w/o cat... just gonna sound a little ricey

 

well with all the things im hearing bad with the ZZP downpipe i want to order it becaus ei have the TOG header. but the CA seems to have more going for it.

 

Maybe mine just sounds like ****. DOc has one and I think he likes his.

 

how do u like it? and did the new flange help fix the leak problem?

 

not installed yet. waiting on downpipe and all

 

the stocks are on back order, thus i get a new oem one in two weeks, the C-A one will be here tuesday. the tune GM is way too rich, flame thrower to the cat, it cloggs and then the P0420 code with CEL. get an aftermarket DP, keep the replacement OEM for warranty issues if needed. and get a hptune. that is the only way i can see removing some of the richness from the GM tune.

my catalytic converter blew up on my brand new 06 at 3k miles they said i was putting aftermarket additives in it which i never did but they fixed it under warranty ive known a couple of guys who had this problem when its clogged the car will be really quiet lose alot of power and u hear ur sc like crazy because the car is like silenced! Go to ur dealer if ur still under warranty.
