Problem with magnoflow catt back.

Ok I bout a used magnaflow catt back off another member and it fits almost perfect and it sounds great but after a few hard runs it started to leak?
So I got under the car and looked to see where it was comeing from and its leaking where the front and rear pipes connect.
I had the systom installed by a local shop for 20 bucks as I did not have the time to do it my self.
So I got under the car and found that the pipes have pulled apart a bit. So I got them back to gether and retightened the clamp and went for a drive.
After a few good hard runs its leaking agen?????? I tightend the F***ing crap out of that clamp and the muffler shop tightend it with an impact and it still pulls apart???

Any idea how to fix this?

Sorry for the long post.

those kind of clamps suck. welding is the only foolproof solution.

You can go to a auto parts store and rent a pipe expander to make/stretch the pipe to a larger diameter. It's just a little tool you work with a socket/wrench. Why did the dude sell it ? Too loud ?

Thanks guys.

No it was not to loud. Its actualy not vary loud at all. only about 50% louder then stock.

He is selling his car to get a new Mustang GT and put it back to stock.

I realy dont want to weld it. I would like to be able to remoce it and put the stock one back on if I want to. Ill see if the shop that put it on can expand the pip a bit but its a tight fit as is.

you don't have to weld all the way around. I have 4 small weld points, takes two minutes to pop them with a torch or a hacksaw.

My magnaflow catback makes weird vibration noises that are loud as hell when I first start the car up. The noise comes from the resonator. It's pretty embarrassing when people walk by when I first start the car up.

You can hear it. And I got under the car while it was up on jack stands and had my wife start it for me. I could feal it leaking with my hand.

Mine dosnt make any funny noises. It sounds sweet as he!! when the thing isnt leaking!

Im going to try and have the pipe expanded and see if it will help.

If that dosnt work Im going to see about welding it I guess. It sounds like crap after it starts leaking though.

Im going to go out and try to reposition the clamp and see if that will help.

Right now I have it even with the outer sloted pipes end.

One thing that might be is that we had to "adjust" one of the heat sheals on the car right next to the resonator so it didnt rub.

See if that fixes your problems.

Yeah welding it will probably be your best bet. Just have it welded at that one particular spot. It shouldn't cost that much. I was thinking about welding mine but mine didn't leak. However, I am thinking about removing the resonator and just placing 2.5 or 3 inch piping there. However someone told me it was bad for our car to remove the resonator......I don't see how it could be......excpet for the extra loud noise

Removeing the res is not bad for the car but I dont see why you would do that my self. The only thing its going to do is make is sounds ricey and loud as he11. Other then that it would do nothing for you.

The leak botheres me becouse it makes it sound like crap! It pops alot more coming off a rev and its alot louder when it starts leaking.

I love the way the Magnaflow sounds. It's deep as hell. I just want it a tad bit louder though. I hate how it's just as quiet as stock exhaust when just idling. I want it a tad bit louder but not too much louder which is why I want a shorty header.

Yeah a header and high flow catt is your best bet. If you remove the resonator its going to get realy rasspy.

Im going out to see if I can get it to stop leaking now.
Ill post back later.
