Project 35R Redline

And so it begins...

First stages of mock up, snapped a few pics.

Don't ask for specs or how anything is getting done. You all seem to believe you know so much more than me, so don't waste your time following any of my ideas. I'll just post progress pics as it goes.

I know you asked that we don't ask any questions but is the exhaust housing/elbow actually going to be touching anything? Looks like it's going to be really tight (and of course there is engine movement). Not trying to discredit you, just asking.

Too much mocking **** up in these forums. Wake me up when it's complete with dyno and track numbers.

At this point it looks like someone just set a turbo in there and took a pic.

In the pic the turbine flange is just resting on the motor mount. We just thought it'd be a cool to snap a pic with it in there. It will be mounted much further up than that so the hot side charge pipe can go almost straight down into the hole that's already in the inner fender. Getting all of that to fit is easy. Getting a downpipe back out from that location is what's going to be hard.

Did he eliminate the blower and just use it as part of the manifold?

That's a nice setup, thanks for posting the pic.

is it hard to throw a turbo on our car say, right below the exhaust instead of where you are mounting it??? like in the normal place where you would see a turbo?? Also, how would you go about tuning the car with a turbo and supercharger on it together??? Ive been wanting to turbo my car and keep the supercharger on it but been hearing its to difficult to do.

Basically yeah. Smart idea if you ask me because there's less fab work involved. Plus it confuses the **** out of people at car shows. They can't figure out whether it's just turbo or twincharged.

No it would actually be easier to fit a smaller turbo in a more normal location. We chose to mount it up front for a few reasons, mainly because of easy and short charge pipe routing (less lag), the size of the turbo, ease of getting fresh air to it, and it just looks sick.

Tuning the car twin charged really isn't any different than tuning it just turbo or just s/c. We'll be using Megasquirt so it will be tuned with a MAP sensor only. The ECU doesn't know or care how it's getting its air.

I never heard of Megasquirt, so you think if i had my whole turbo setup and all the piping and etc ran that i would be able to just tow it to a dyno and get it tuned??? Im just looking to push about 8-9 psi with it mainly so it just kicks it in the higher rpms.

What he did there (and most gtp owners do) is remove the snout/rotors and put on a block off plate. Just use the blower as an upper intake manifold and you can keep the stock intercooler too. With the turbo clocked that way (the bottom pic) it looks pretty easy to put the downpipe on. Maybe you can steal that idea. How he puts on an air filter is still beyond me

dont think its going to be hard to tune a turbo and super application??

you got a lot to learn.

(ps.. ask ZZP how long it took them to tune zooomers super/turbo grand prix)
