PSI FI or GM Upgrades

Would you rather go with the PSI FI kit or the GM Performance Upgrades next year? Just Curious.

I am having someone check for me but so far the part isn't an 'active part' yet so there is no pricing, they are checking a couple other places , doesn't look like they have a price yet.

I think it would have to. It would be a pretty tough arguement with GM explaining that you spliced into their factory wiring harness to overide their factory settings and you can't figure out why that piston went through the hood when you revved at 7000 RPM ('cause you overode the factory rev limiter)

The PSIFI kit does NOT override the factory rev limiter!

BUT I predict...

Combining the GM Stage 1 with the 2.80" (71.1mm) PSIFI pully and a "retuned" PSIFI Powerpaq will become the dominant combination for the LSJ. Just stamp 77.9mm on the PSIFI pulley and hide the Powerpaq for "full stealth" mode.
To any tech it will look like Stage 2

This would still only spin the M62 to 15000 RPM which is still well below the 16,000 maximum "peak" RPM the M62 is rated for (14,000 rpm is it's CONTINUOUS maximum speed)

Stock internals can take up to 7500rpm, to spin more you just need to replace to valve springs not even the seats or keepers.

Actually a GM engineer that was interviewed on Street Tuner Challenge, said the bottom end can handle 8000 rpm all day, but the valve train can't. Supposedly, that's all you need to change to get to that mark.

For me it's going to depend on how much GM wants for a pulley...

this all hinges on what gm will charge for the stage upgrades.

Same here depends on the price. If they are anyhting like the mopar stage upgrades for the str-4, then i will buy one for sure. But every chevy owner knows that chevy parts for so damn expensive.

Correct and to add to that - the 8000 rpm is only reasonably possible with correct Balance & Blue print on the engine including larger tolerance for the crank bearings.

We have found that you want to open up the clearance on the bearings and run good - clean synthetic oil if you plan to spend any time in the 8000 range.

I think the poll needs a "both" option because a Stage 2 package and a tuned PSI FI set-up would just be amazing.
