Pull engine or not.

By looking at this blue frame tube do you think I can install a balance shaft delete without pulling the motor? Plan is delete bushing and overdrive fluid balancer. I assume I just grind the cover to fit the pulley and belt. Idk.

You can def install them w/o pulling the motor. Plenty of room.

That helps! Die grinder to that hump above the crank pully sound right? I noticed ZZP sells a cover modified to fit so I'm worried I'm missing something.

I'd take it to a machine shop, not sure how much material needs to be removed.

Fresh timing chain recomended or do these hold up? 2005 LSJ. I read somewhere about a problem with a tensioner. Is this engine a candidate for a better one?

There is a newer version tensioner and I believe it's only $20 or so so you might as well replace it. The bolt for the chain guide opposite the tensioner is an issue too. Mine snapped around 140k. Luckily it didn't jump timing or anything but the bolt was stuck in the head so I had to purchase a special bolt that someone on here sells to hold the guide. CED sells upgraded ARP bolts for the guides that you may want to look into to avoid what happened to me.

The chains are fine, its the tensioner and the guides that fail.

While you have it apart mine as well replace it all though.

Pick up arp chain guide bolts from CED as well.

Tons of room to do the balance shafts in that application.

The modified timing cover is just ground down on the surface, if you're going overdrive it gets into the oil pump valve housing, it's simple enough to test and grind as needed, since the pulley just slides on.
