Pulley Puller

Has anyone ever used a regular pulley puller to remove the supercharger pulley and install a different one. Besides the one that zzp makes. I dont really feel like spending 100 bucks on that. If you guys have where did you get it and how much did it run you? Do you think a regular alternator pulley puller would work from like autozone or pepboys.

i tryed using a "professional" pulley remover from cornwell and lets say even with an impact it wasnt pulling that pulley off. i would say a shop press would be easier

idea! walk into pepboys with your supercharger in hand and walk up to the shop press on display and say "your testing it" and then leave

Sometimes a shop press isnt enough. In my case, it didnt budge, you could actually see the pulley starting to bend. Maybe our press isnt that strong. The impact and traditional puller didnt work either. We had to use this old school puller that a guy had in the shop...hit with a hammer as we pumped it with the air gun...once it moved a little I took it to the press that got it off. It was a lot of work...Maybe mine was just pushed on a little much from the factory.

We didnt try heat to get if off...but once it was off, we stuck the blower in the freezer and put the new hub in the hot tank for a couple hours...Then I used a power steering pulley press and it when on so easy...no struggle at all.

i used a three jaw puller, a 3 ft long breaker bar.

got the stock pulley off, chewed, but off. also went flying across the yard when it popped.

I bought this set from Harbor Freight ($16.00)to remove the pulleys on both of my SS/SCs and used a GM power steering pulley installer (threads into the shaft) to install the new one.

That price is rediculous, your getting raped. it should be more like 150-250 depending how familiar they are with the cobalt. First time I took mine to the dealer for an oil change it took them almost two hours, lets just say I got that for free. I did the oil change today and it took maybe 25 mins.

Yeah dude you can go to Autozone they have a three jaw puller that'll take that off. Or Napa too, they make you do a deposit incase you don't bring it back but they refund your money when you bring it back .
