pulley question

i have stage 2 but what is the pulley size on it. i see alot of people have like 2.8 or 2.85 or whatever. if the stage 2 pulley is bigger than that what is the best size pulley you can get without blowin your engine up. and where can you get this pulley. another thing if i put the smaller more power adding pulley on my car what happens....nothin because of the stage 2 reflash will only let a certain amount of boost and power.....or i get more boost and more power....just some questions any help would be greatly appericiated.....dont forget to add where i can buy a pulley

Stage 2 pully is around 3 inches.
You will not want to go smaller than a 2.9 on a stage 2 tune.

A smaller pulley will allow you to gain more psi from the supercharger. It spins the charger faster, therefore; pushing more air. The thing that will blow the motor, is putting the injectors over their limits. when you use a smaller pulley, you are pushing more air in the motor. The injectors try to keep up with the A/F ratio that is dialed in from the tune. If they can't keep up then you have major problems. Burning out pistons and blowing your motor.

you can get the pullies from a lot of different sites. A member on here (supporting vender) his name is Nate. He customs a lot of pulley sizes. I can't remember his vender name, but someone will chime in

hey if i was use i would make sure you can get your stage 2 pulley off before you buy a pulley. I bought Nates 2.85in polished pulley probably 2 months ago (outstanding product btw) and when i went to install it my pulley bolts were waaaayyy over tight. i literally snapped the bolt adapter that comes with the stage 2 kit for the blue bolts in 3 pieces..so i then tried a impact with an extension, still wouldnt come off. so i called my dealer and bitched and bitched and im actually going up there tomorrow and they are completely taking off my blower and drilling out the bolts and putting on my 2.85in pulley, which i will definetly make sure they only do 15lb/ft of torque this time!!!!

Kind of weird to make my first post in here but anyway, i dont mean to highjack your thread but you all are saying you can run a 2.9 with the rest of the stage 2 stuff safely? or would it be in need of a custom dyno tune?

yes you can run a 2.9 on the stage 2 tune perfectly fine. dont go smaller than that though because Injector Duty Cycles will be through the roof

2.9 works great for me on stage 2 tune. have had no problems or anything. Also, I hope you have the NGK 1 step colder plugs. if not you might want to get those as well.

its not that bad...got my car logged not too long ago. until 5800rpm i was at 11.7afr and then it jumped down to 10.2 cause stage2 runs retardedly rich. at redline my IDC's were at 94%. close to maxing them out, but not quite yet. lol

i am about to run a 2.9 pulley. from all the research i've been doing, you will need at least 42# injectors, 1 step colder plugs, and a CAI (or other means of increased cold air flow) to avoid the risk of blowing your motor due to strain. PCM tune is also recommended. any mid-east cobalts, check out Tom's tuning, it's great! His name on here = wickedSS2005
