Question

simple question really, why is my 07 cobalt ss sc making 14psi of boost with stock pulley?

everything i read says my car should only be making 12 psi and to top it off i just had the sc replaced under warranty. im a lil confused with this. 14psi is where it maxes out at rev limit. had the car for 2 years and its always been like this.

Depends on altitude and weather too

Boost gauge COULD be off

boost gauge could be slightly off, cat could be a slight bit clogged. that or you just have a factory freak.

swapped boost gauge and just put in a new header and downpipe with high flow cat. no bolts hold the sc pulley on. entire sc has been replaced. i bought this car used. 70-80 degree day it makes 14 psi and on a cold day sub 50 it makes 15ish psi.

edit: im not that far above sea level.

same boost with the old sc. got it replaced because it sounded rough (like marbles in the snout) and the techs at the dealer just agreed with me. lol.

i to thought the boost was limited at 12psi.

alright, thanks guys.

if you feel like answering 1 more.....

is it normal that my water temp is a couple degrees higher now that i installed a header and downpipe?

im thinking due to increased engine bay temp as a result of no more heat shield.
