question for the educated...

I have a question I hope can be answered.... I bought a 2.8 pulley kit and 42lbs injectors... I ihave been told that i need to have them tuned before i drive it. Then I was told by a someone else you can install them without the tune as long as you don't race. While yet someone else said you can drive it without the tune but it will not preform as well. So i am a bit confused.... Can the pulley and injectors be installed with out a tune for awhile and is there any damage that may come of it? I want to get it tuned but money is tight as most people know. So the tune may not be for a month or so.....

are you stock right now? If you are, and you switch to the 42#, you CANNOT drive your car.

You MIGHT be able to make it to the dealership. I would not drive that car with the bigger injectors and no tune. Bad idea.

2.8 on the 42lb injectors is probably a bad idea.

Def. tune.....60's would have been better than 42's, 2.8 plus 42's is not a great idea, but it will run. Have to have a new tune for bigger injectors and pulley though to answer the question.

2.8", 42.5#s, and tune = eventual meltdown if you consistently take the car above 5500rpms.

any injector change without tuning = bad

Either trade in the injectors for 60#s, or trade the pulley for a 2.9" or 3.0"

lol at some of the above responses.

OP...Yes it can be driven. You should not take the car to wide open throttle though. It will run extremely rich and probably misfire, but it will not blow up any time soon. The worst it will do is foul plugs and contaminate your oil with gasoline. If you keep it under light throttle and cruising conditions it will not run rich until you put the pedal to the floor. The o2 sensor will keep the air/fuel ratio in check until you go wide open. You will throw a check engine light however.

like everyone has said (42#) injectors are no good with a 2.8" pulley. Your IDC will be off the charts. Get (60#) injectors and a custom tune. Don't blow up your engine. If you don't have the funds or connections to get tuned, wait until you do !!!! <- I can not stress that enough ....

1) Take the 42s back and get 60's, 42s get nearly maxxed out easily

2) From what I've learned, you can kinda drive it, but get the tune asap/end thread

to the op, basically what he's saying is you can put it on, but you won't be able to run the car hard. which defeats the point of doing the mods.

best bet is to ditch the 42's and get 60's and a tune. you will be able to drive wherever you have to go for the tune, but like stated take it easy on the way over.
