question on possible exhaust leak= CLIP ADDED

ok so i just put on a zzp shorty header and xtc d/p with high flow cat. when i started it up i didnt hear anyleaks. but when i drove off i heard what sounds like a leak. then i noticed that it only makes that sound when i am in the boost. as soon as i get to 1 psi it makes it. i free reved it in neutral to 6000 and didnt hear anything. but as soon as i get in the boost it is there.

so i was thinking is it the supercharger? and the less restrictive exhaust let me hear it? or what?

ok i can try that tomorrow. here is a sound clip of it. it is pretty faint and you hear it around the 3 sec mark.

Thats the same thing that happened to me! i put on my 3" cti d/p and it makes the same noise as soon as u step into it... my friends say its the air moving though the flex pipe in the d/p. you can use heat rap to silence it a little.....at least thats what they told me but i would also like to kno if someone differs.......

i would say its the t/q movement from ur engine moving around creating a leak in ur dp some where( just a guess... and if its correct its on a weld or pinched flex pipe... i have also had the same problem with my zzp..( also did u get a gasket??)

i used the stock header gasket. used a new 3 bolt flange, and the stock 2 bolt gasket.

so yeah. if it isnt a leak then i can get used to the sound, but if it is a leak i want to fix it.

anyone else have input?

^ This does sound like a possibility, however, with a tubular manifold and no heat shield, you will hear a noise that may be confused as an exhaust leak. I know that's what I thought. Put a rag in your exhaust tip and get under the car to make sure.

i just think its the air moving through the d/p OR it could be that you need a new timing chain tensioner????
