question on shifting

ok, just got my SS/SC G85 and was wondering about something in 1st and 2nd... im learing and thinking im doing this all right, but when i let out the clutch and give it gas in 1st and 2nd, it "lunges back and forth". what am i doing wrong? as i am gradually pressing on the gas, it does this. anyone know what im talking about? its hard to describe, almost feels like im letting off and back on the gas pedal consistently....(thats what it feels like, not what im doing)

Thats just part of learning. I did the bunny hop in first when I was first learning too. You learn how to smooth it all out eventually. You probably aren't giving it enough gas.

Oh learning stick on this car? hey I did too ive have the car for about 2 weeks. Ok from a stand still to going you have to let the clutch out enough the car starts to roll, give it gas and keep the RPMs about 1200 or so, as you feel the car grab and go, slowly let out the clutch for a smooth launch. You basically have to ride the clutch a little in first for it to be "smooth".... but dont over do it. First to second jerks too, again ride the clutch a little longer then normal for a smooth transition. I dont mean ride the clutch for ever, you just have to get use to it. The clutch is twitchy on these cars, alot of people say its not good to learn on them but its really helped me drive stick on other cars alot better.

Also to keep your clutch grabbing firm for a long time, shift at 3000-3200RPMs or higher. odd thing bout the clutch is it likes the abuse. if you shift lower it might start to slip...

When my brother was learning, he just practiced going back and forth in the driveway for an hour. After that, he got the hand of starting from a dead stop.

The whole trick is to learn the exact spot where your clutch starts to engage.

also, your clutch will smooth out after a while. mine was a bit rough the first 2 weeks. after about 1 month/800-1k miles the clutch gets silky smooth.... at least for the getrag.

p.s. once in a while i'll still hop it... it happens.

i bunny hoped my entire first day i think, even had a couple of my friends who have been driving stick do it in my car, our clutch is just differnt, youll get it in due time, just make sure you let out the clutch slowly and then stay on the gas dont just get off it once your going, constant throttle, iv been driving for over a month now and i learned just about all of it, i just got down rev matching, once you do that your gonna have fun
