question for the techys (sorto)

ok this is copy pasted from GM

Supercharged Stage 1 System
Make it growl. Engineered by GM for Cobalt SS Supercharged Coupe, the Stage 1 Kit consists of four injectors and a performance engine management calibration. It generates a significant power gain right at the wheels. Take your 205-horsepower engine up to a throaty 236.

now everyone tells me that the ss/sc actually has more horsepower then 205 to start out with, and i am also told that GMs tune sucks, so with my new injectors (65pders) and custom tune what would you all guess my horsepower is at? i am not even going to try to figure in my CAI since thats only 10hp tops.

go get yourself a baseline dyno. then get one after mods

anything else is paper racing, and were just throwing numbers at ya.

GM is known for underating its cars.. also you have to consider we are not NA so our stock numbers are going to range greater do to heat/humidity/barmetric pressure...

also.. just b/c you have bigger injectors doesnt necassarily mean you will have more power.. it just states you are able to tune a greater quantity of air/fuel ..

like stated.. dont paper race.. get out and put it on the car and hit up the dyno or track

well you also have to rememeber putting on bigger injectors is not just going to yeild gains. going too big actually is not good. the bigger the injector you go too, the less the fuel is atomized when sprayed. you will actually see better performance by running as small an injector as you can with your setup

Na.. i just got 60 lbers and plugged em in.. Fuel = power.. which means more fuel more power!!!

I wouldnt say running as small of an injector is advisable either... you want to look at your max and min duty cycles and size accordingly... (you dont want to be running 99% duty cycle..)

well actually i needed the 60s, i am running a duty cycle of about 65%, and from what i have been told you dont want to run anything over 80% so if i would have put the 40s in there i would have been over 80% again.

of course this is just what was explained to me, i cant argue point by point because i am just relaying info given to me, and prob not that well

Do you have any other mods done or are you just sticking in larger injectors? You really aren't going to get any gains by just sticking in larger injectors. The reason why the stage 1 tune gives you more power is because the calibration ups the rev limiter to 7000. You make all your "extra" power by having the larger injectors that can supply enough fuel to allow you to rev higher past the stock 6500 limit.

If you dump more fuel you will just run too rich and you will start to lose more HP then you will be gaining.

oh i got a custom toon on it. hell, i am not sure if the car would have even started with the stock tune.

i didnt literally mean as small as possible. i meant as small as was safe. sorry for the confusion. my point is that you dont want to be putting 120 pound injectors in a stock CRX, and then telling yourself you are making more power.

If all you have done is bigger injectors and a tune, then I doubt you are seeing any really big gains. If your rev limiter was raised to 7000 like the stage 1 tune, then you are probably seeing about the same numbers as anyone with a stage 1 kit. If you have 65# injectors you need to get yourself a 2.8 or 2.7 inch pulley so you can take advantage of having those big injectors. You go with an even smaller pulley, but you will need some cooling mods first.

oh the tune i have is way better then GMs stage one tune so i am sure i have at least that good, most likely better because i have heard from several places that the GM tune is ****. so yeah he did the rev limit raise and several other things as well. he told me he did things likechanging the degree on the timing and several other things that i couldnt tell you anything about but he had lost me by that point, i dont work on them i just drive them
