Question for those on E.

So I've been debating back and forth if I should go E or not. My main issue just like is the fact that the closest gas station that carries E85 is almost 10 miles away. Yes its my dd, that's why I'm debating wether or not to go E. My question to those currently running on E85 is do any of you carry an extra gallon tank in the trunk in case of emergencies?! Like in case you need that extra gallon just to get you to the pump to fill up?

If thats the only station near you then I probly wouldnt do it. I have a station 1 mile and about 3.5 miles away from my normal routes that Ive found so far. What would happen if that gas stations pumps were down or they ran out of E85. You need a backup plan

Im on E and have 2 stations near me both are 25 miles away. I usually ration my fuel every 2 weeks or so ill head to one of them fill up the car and fill up 3 5gal containers (15gal) and throw em in the trunk and drop em off at home. If your tryin to go far you gotta plan your trips around the available stations (bringin a 5gal container helps), or just take another car .

The PRICE for Ethanol (At least in my neck of the woods in CAL)

I was wondering if anyone actually drives around with a spare tank in the trunk all the time . Figured it would be a good idea for those who aren't lucky enough to have E close enough to them. In case you're running low and need that extra gallon or 2 to get you to the nearest pump to fill up.

I basically asked the same question that your asking right now.And the answer that I got was is your tuned for E85 and you get low on gas and your not close to a station that sells it just put 5-6 gallons of 91 in your going to just cruise to the gas station that sells the E85 just dont go WOT with only the 91 in the car.

And the answer to your other question is probably no I dont think that people cruise around town with E85 in a gas can in thier trunk

I've gotten mixed info on that from everything I've read on here. Some people say its ok to run it with 91/93 octane as long as you stay out of boost and then there's those that say its not good to run anything other then E85.

What are the advantages of 50/50 compared to straight E85?

make sure you call or visit the place with E because sometimes its listed on google maps or where ever and its a DOT or DOD gas station or is closed down.

and the benefits of a 50/50 blend is you dont need a winter tune since E85 is E70 i believe in winter and there has been issues of full E (may be worked out now but) leaning out because theres a bottle neck in the HPFP in our cars causing some people to taper off the boost in the midrange to stop if from leaning out... SO IVE HEARD! Someone can step in if im wrong but thats what ive been told because ive been interested in E for a while now.

I always had 1gal of E at all times in my car just in case. You should be able to run full E with a good tune cause I almost got away with it with the bigger turbo.

You still get the benefits of E with the benefits of better gas mileage... Obviously you have to give a little in each direction, but It's much better than one or the other.

It seems easier to just run meth if there would be no stations selling e-85
