Question on ZZP Stage three.

Hey guys I was thinking about going ZZP S3 for my 2007 ss s/c from purely stock and im curious to hear some opinions about it. Also if I take this step then what kind of tune should I get?

Trifecta is good and safe, otherwise HPTuners if you can find someone locally to tune you.

Go with the 2.8, 60's and don't cheap out on the heat exchanger. There belt is not on OEM GM stage 2 belt, so consider getting one of those. Mine and I've read about a bunch chunking in a very short period. Mine was gone before 5000km.

I see they offer a dual pass now, not a bad idea to pick one up. You'll have your coolant system drained anyways and the SC off to put on the pulley. Might as well throw one on.

I went the ZZP Stage 3 route myself, and i'll give you my advice from it..

I think your best belt would be to find someone decently close to you and have them tune you.
Definitely go with the 2.8.
If you plan on doing future mods, liike tvs or turbo down the road, you can just go with the 80's now..
If you don't plan on going tvs or turbo any time soon then just stick with 60's.
FOR SURE get the Stage 3 H/E..
Get the actual GM stage 2 belt from CED or somewhere else as Canadian said..
Dual Pass is something you'll end up getting eventually probably, so might as well get it with the kit.

I'm super stoked on my kit.

Yea don't use the belt that comes with their kit, it sucks. Mine stated falling apart after 2000 miles. Definitely get gm stage 2 belt or go with the oversized tensioner and reuse the stock belt

It's funny, I have 4k on my ZZP shorter belt with no problems, but if you do I'm sure they will send you a new belt. IMO their customer service is top notch! I stayed safe with a 2.9, since I had no exhaust work. My can tune runs just fine too, only needs minor tweaks to be spot on.
(fyi my car was just back at ZZP after having the kit for 4k hard miles, no problems what so ever.)

Just cause they have a high failure rate doesn't mean all of them will.

You can go 2.8 with no exhaust work, and their tune (as with any other canned tune) sucks. Get a new tune unless they dyno tuned it for you while it was there.

My tune could use a few tweaks, but by no means sucks.... Yeah it's a base flash, but it was built around what mods I had not a generalized setup. We also drove, and logged the car after just to make sure.

And that's what I meant, not all the belts will go, but if they do you should have no issues calling ZZP and getting a new one.

I was seeing 18psi on my 2.9, I just would feel safer running at least a short header with a 2.8. I'm going 2.7 and E spring time since I have my exhaust in order.

I'd bet it's by no means good either. The tune that comes with ZZP/OTTP kits is NOT a good tune. I'm not saying it kills your car, just its really rich. Regardless of how much you want to argue it. What are you hitting for AFR at WOT?

18 psi on a stock catback is pretty high for a 2.9. Whats your elevation?

No idea on Ele here, but I'm NOT using the normal can tune they send out, Tim uploaded a different flash he had been working on. I'd have to log the car to check AFR's again, but compared to my buddy's car I don't smoke carbon as bad as him. I would guess somewhere 11.6-12.0?

I've heard of the "straight line dyno" but never heard of the "straight line wideband" .

So, your talking about it's target AFR's if you don't have a wideband then. I'd get one.

FYI though, 18PSI on a 2.9 is rather high, especially if your at a higher elevation. I only saw 15-16PSI on my 2.8 during the summer with stock exhaust.

Even with a header here in MI i'm still seeing 18 psi on my 2.9, but I have plans of a 3in ZZP CB around mid winter. And the AFR guess was the pcm's target AFR, as i don't have a WB yet. That and an interceptor are on the list for tax season haha.
