Just purchased a Cobalt SS S/C In Blue, I was woundering about the system.
How is it?
Also is the sub mounted in a box in the trunk or?
Anyone have pic's??

I bought one without looking at it. When I preordered.

 

I find the sound system pretty weak, considering it's 7 spkr, 228W, with a 10" sub in the trunk. I mean it's still better than your average stock system for sure, but I've heard much better from much less.

I guess the only way to describe it is that if it were optional, I'd pay about $250-300 for it tops. More than that and I don't feel it would be worth it.

 

It really doesn't even get loud when you turn the volume all the way up, has anyone else noticed the volume goes up the harder you accelerate? Is this common? haven't had a sports car let alone a car before this one...

 

i forget what thats called but theres a button on your radio and you can turn it off or lower..

it gets louder the faster you go to compensate for wind noise.

 

it's called SCV. Speed Control Volume, it rasies the volume of the radio to be grater then the road noise. and yes thair is a control on the radio for this option.

 

Doesn't even get loud when the volume it turned up all the way? What are you people deaf? I never need to use more than half volume especially with the Cobalt being much more quiet inside than other vehicles. I can hear everything cirsp and clear.

 

They are just too cool for the Cobalt Stereo, they mean they want the whole street to listen as they go by...

Sounds like something an aftermarket company needs to come up with. Twin carbon fiber 10" sub boxes that fit in the same location would be nice.

It’s really annoying. I can't stand the morons that drive through my neighborhood with their systems all the way up, rattling my windows, pissing my dogs off...... My family didn't pay $300,000 for a Snoop Dogg concert. Our homeowners association will not do anything about it, I don't understand. So I've started writing down tag numbers and turning them into the district attorney's office. I don’t mind it as much in traffic, sometimes I find it rather humorous.

Its not that I don’t enjoy loud music, because I do I just have respect for other people’s well being.

 

Slightly off subject, but I have the base sedan(I have kids), anyways does anyone know where to get just the sub enclosure? I like the room saving design, but can't find anything like it.

 

It's not so much the volume that I have a problem with, as the sound QUALITY. It's really not very good. The bass is loose and floppy. It's loud alright, but in a bad way, no tightness and not very much punch. The rest of the system is similar, sounds overstrained. Cheap amplifiers + paper cones = not very good sound.

 

Does anyone have another of these for sale so I could install it on the missing side??
