quick question
quick question
Ok so i purchased a jdm sport CAI and when i installed it i threw two codes, one was pcm failed, cant remember the other one... and when i was at idle my rpms. Will bounce from 500-1200, and another issue is smost of the time when i get to around 4000rpm my car will sputter like its fighting to push more power so ide have to shift to lower my rpm.. anyways i took it off and put the stock box back in and everything is completely normal, im looking to try again tomarrow but would like some insight on why this happened, any help is much appreciated, thanks in advance.

These cars are kinda picky with what intakes you put on them. Depending on where the maf is located will depend on what kind of problems you will have. Another thing is lean/rich codes caused by the extra air flow and maf location change. This is something that can be solved through tuning, if you are interested in learning more pm me.
personally i had a aem and hated it i dont recommend it to anyone K&N and Injen i recommend as the best
buy a used injen or K&N man there is lots on this fourm

i have one of the jdm intakes on my car and its been great. only thing i've noticed wrong with it is the maf reading is slightly lowered. so just because its not a huge name brand doesn't always make it a piece of crap
yea that's what i thought lol its sorta just a pipe? eh what im still gonna try to hook it up again n see what happens worse case scenario i take it off again and put the stock box back on..
ya i agree with the others though. the maf sensor mount is definetly in the wrong area. should be in the same area as your stock one (which mine is) but try it out again and make sure everything is nice and tight. and be careful with the maf sensor as they are pretty sensitive
Hey, I know what your problem is!! Lol its not so much that intake as it is that autozone spectre oiled piece of crap filter on there. Take that off and get an AEM dryflow or injen dryflow and problems will be solved. How do I know you ask? Cuz I have that same p.o.s. filter in my basement and had a hell of a time with it last year. They over oil those things to all hell...ur prolly gonna need to clean ur maf now too...
and your MAF looks to be about 1/4 to halfway around the pipe from where its supposed to be

Any autozone or advance will carry the aem dryflow. You can get any filter you want really, just make sure it IS NOT oiled cuz that **** vaporizes when the air gets sucked thru and f*ck's with the MAF
Ya i just seen that pic oh well ima try tomarro ill post what happens gotta try n get a better filter thx everyone

Completely solved my problem, bet it will here too. The only reason I even posted was because these symptoms are IDENTICAL to the ones I was having and couldn't figure it out...swapped the filter, car ran like a dream from then on. But what do I know? Its not like I ever had this exact same problem before.
