Quick Question, Please Help.
Hey guys I am out here in california. I live in the midwest and I took a road trip with my buddy. Anyways, I called a shop out here in Elk Grove California and they said they could custom fabricate a 2.5inch or 3inch exhaust system for me tomorrow morning, with magnaflow mufflers. The price was around 225 or so for the pipping, muffler, and the install. This is a very reputable shop, and they have done a ton of work on cobalts from what i was told.
My question is, should I go 2.5inch or 3inch exhaust and how will it sound?
Right now I am 100% stock. By friday I will have the gm stage 2 kit installed. Soon after that I will be grabbing vibrant headers and a vibrant downpipe. I would love to find a shop that had headers/downpipe in stock, but i HIGHLY doubt i will, even in california.
I am only going to be in this area for a few more days, and he said he could do the install tomorrow morning.

If you're not planning to go beyond Stage 2 power levels, go with a 2.5". As for the sound, Magnaflow makes more than 1 kind of muffler, so it's hard to say; however, many people here have a Magnaflow exhaust and like it.
Just as important as the muffler, if not more so, is a good resonator. A good resonator will elimate a lot of rasp from the exhaust and make it sound better. If you get a header and a high-flow cat, you'll DEFINITELY want a good resonator.
Hope this helps. Tons more info is available if you use the Search function.

Well I ended up going with a custom exhaust system. 3inch piping, with a magnaflow muffler, and no cat. I will be buying headers and a downpipe when i get home, but i tell ya, im loving it so far.
I also got my windows tinted, 50% on the windshield and side windows, and 5% on the rest. It looks amazing.
Only problem is as I was driving today, I got a check engine light. I am sure its for the o2 sensor, which is plugged in, but the guy said that it would probably through a code since the cat was removed.
He also said there was a way to buy something and hook it up to fool it so i wouldnt have a cel, let me know.
Tomorrow I am getting the gm stage 2 kit done, w00t.
