No you don't.

You can lower the rear axle out

Dude just cut the goddamn thing. Work smart, not hard. If you need to use it right away just go out and buy a 2-1/4 band clamp until you can get it re-welded. Hell i'm not even going to bother getting mine rewelded. I've been rocking the clamp and it is just fine.

Um...taking it out in 1 piece seems impossible...cut it at the axle back.

cut it somewhere with a small straight section, get another small piece of exhaust pipe and 2 clamps and be done with it.

Apparently half this thread completely ignored what the guy said about not wanting to cut it. He's not going to cut it. He's swapping it with someone.

OK timeout. Do you have the car on jackstands or on those ramp things?

A clamp seals perfectly fine if you do it right. At least until you can get it welded if you must be OCD about it.

ya it needs to be on jackstands...with both wheels off and both struts unbolted to lower the axle enough to get the exhaust out

Good luck passing NY state inspection with a clamp on your exhaust... Next time you get it inspected its going to fail for exhaust leak.... trust me it happened to me when I had my CRX in NY, andit also happened here in VA with the balt when I clamped my exhaust, but yes it is a great temporay fix...

Also to the op if you do end up having to cut it... It will cost you $10 bucks to get it weled at damn near any exhaust shop
