I don't really see a need for the light myself... i guess once you learn your engine there is really no need for one...

i have and it is really esy to install and easy to hook up. really bright and not too tacky looking because it is so small in size. no one ever sees it when they get in my car because mine is mounted on my steering wheel column. i dont use it that much, i really only go it to help out when i attempted to treach my girlfriend to drive a manual. i had it set at about 2500 rpms but whenever it lit up it would freak her out and she gave up.

#1 You don't really need a shift light (I used to shift by sound)
#2 If you have a scan gauge, the shift light on that works great
#3 If you don't have either, just make sure you rev to at least 7700 rpm

bah when i drive i try to bounce off the rev limiter AT LEAST 3 times, and then no lift shifting into the next gear.

I used to WOT shift all the time. I would just set the limiter about 200 rpm higher, as to NOT hit the limiter. If I got it right, it sounded almost like an auto!

My car was in 4th for a while before the piston let go. The shifting had absolutely nothing to do with the piston.
