Re: Wheel Hop

What can be done to help quell this? In terms of hardware, not driving technique?

Also, when people comment that a Cobalt SS/SC is just a "Cavalier".....just this comment have merit? I am aware that it is the replacement, but it doesn't share much/anything with the last gen Cav does it?

Thanks

ok, first off, i highly suggest searching first, or you run the risk of members flaming you to no end. With that said.

Motor Moutns/tranny Mounts/control arm bushings will basically eliminate your wheel hop.

There isn't merit to the claim that cobalt is another cavalier..The cobalt was built on the Delta Platform, shard by the Opel Astra. If I'm correct, the Cavalier is not on the Delta platform...Unless I'm wrong about this, that ALONE makes our car entirely different. Ther only reason people are saying this in my opinion is because the cobalt is the new entry level vehicle for Chevy, so the immediate association is there.

Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong about the platforms.

Apoligies about the repeat.....

I figured that about the name. Just people associating it with the last gen.....it's truly annoying though, the SS/SC is a great car.

Thanks for the help

I have the tranny mount and control arm bushings and wheel hop is non-existant. The only time I got it is when dumping the clutch and deliberately doing a burnout. I got 2 quick "bounces" then rubber. I only tried doing the burnout once just to see if it did hop. They do help alot.

no worries, I find that those who clain it as a new cavalier do so because they haven't taken one on yet, or rode in one. Everyone that I've given a tour of the Cobalt to has said that it is by no means a cavy. Even those who have said it was ended up retracting their statements

lol, yeah. It's essentially my some of my friends who are "haters" of American cars. They have no clue about the car what so ever. It's just their assumption. Regardless, the one guy only has a Corolla XRS anyway....which isn't close to the car the SS/SC is.....

The platform is different. The engine is different, the transmission is different, the interior is different, the sheet metal is different.

I am not sure what the cavy and the cobalt ss/sc share.
