Reacts like turbo lag in 3rd?

ok I have a 2006 ss 2.0
100% Stock.
I am throwing a p0171 [ bank 1 lean ] - did a battery reset comes back on @ around 100 miles of driving, and has massive lag in 3rd (Reacts like turbo lag).
I checked the filter and cleaned the maf..all looks good there.
Little bit of a rougher idle then I would like
and slight flux of rpm when dropped out of gear coasting about 500rpm bounce..
After getting on it pretty heavy the idle is rougher then normal driving then parking.
The cat/resonator one of the two clicks within 20 seconds of being started and continues while driving and for about 15 min after shut off.
The 2 vacuum/boost hoses that go to the black thing connected off of the sc where both pretty worn so I replaced them.
Boost @ about 10 - 12 at idle vacume at 19 - 20 steady.
Also pulled off air intake tube to the tb - had a tiny bit of oil around those grooves cleaned that out but the rest was clean - in the tb "air intake side" was very clean, no oil or anything there.

What I know about the car is
has 62k
@30k replaced cat
at 45k replaced plugs.
& thats all I know...
I know the freakin tail pipe was covered in black dust. "Just polished that up yesterday and cleaned out inside the tip a bit"

Going to toss some chevron inj cleaner in today when I fill up.

Any ideas on my issues guys?

if its been 15000 miles since they spark plugs were changed, id try that first.

But im not sure if that will explain it, id just deffinatly do it

Has it done this before? Or did it just start? Sometimes, if you go to the dealership, they will flash you with the stock tune (im sure its updated) and i have heard of that fixing some problems...

That may be knock retard, which is when the engine slows itself down as not to create any problems (because it sees that something is wrong, spark plugs not firing, stuff like that)...

I notice this sometimes going about 50% throttle or so, the car will like, pull less, its weird to explain, like my car just lost 30 hp or so, than gain it back within a second... some people will attribute that to the tune, so thats why im saying flash the computer..

What would be the best spark plugs to use?
hmm wonder what the dealer would charge me to reflash it?

Yeah thats exactly it...lag for just a moment like it loses some hp them bam it kicks in.

I was wrong 46,808 is when cat was replaced.
50,695 was when spark plugs were replaced.

I've only had the car for a week.

what rpm/speed are you hitting the gas in 3rd? with a 7k redline the powerband for 3rd doesn't really start untill a little over 80mph. If you hit it in 3rd below that, it will take a second before it really starts moving.

I would say @ about 75mph. when I'm on it.

But I get the same effect in just normal driving without going into boost.
Almost feels like I skipped 3rd and went straight to forth in lower rpm's.

Mind you it doesn't bog....just acts like I shifted to 3rd and gave it no gas. then after a couple of seconds feels like I put the gas back on.

No.. its not a small power loss, i know what hes talking about...

you actually kinda move forward in your seat because your car just gives out, then when it kicks in its like you just floord it.

yeah pretty close to that!
Reminds me of my srt4 if I had went into partial boost at 2krpm in 3rd...u kinda get nothing then all the sudden "there ya go"

I'm thinking it somehow has to do with the code i'm throwing..

Bad o2 sensor maybe?

reallly, since its just the stock tune, they shouldnt charge you at all... the most it would be is 35 to 40 dollars (half an hour of shop time)...

man it sux when I was out in the middle of nowhere - "Center" texas...There was a great shop there good guys...woulda done just about anything I wanted with no hassle and something like this would be no charge for sure...
but with dealers in the dfw area...90% are real crooks..and would probably charge me $80 to diagnose it then another $60 for a tune....

I was looking on a site the other day and they had a AEM SRI for this car and said it would not throw any codes...have you seen/heard of it? I would like to get out from the stock intake but I don't like a true cai down there because of the rain - I don't want hydrolock lol.

u know i bet it just attatches to your stock top peice and still drops it in the same place...
cause this thing was VERY short. almost just a place to drop ur maf on and ur filter that was about it.

you can actually do that, im not sure how it would fit though..

Some people take off the air box and attach a filter, im sure if u wanted to do it the other way around you could... ill see if i come up with anything...

And really the location of the air box isnt that far away from where the cai would sit.

yeah i know I actually just thought of how it would fit like that...
maybe i'm better off just doing the k&n dropin dry filter...
I just don't like having to worry about hydrolock u know?

yea, no deffinatly..

the k&n intake comes with a dry charger, that stops some water from getting into the intake, but not puddles ..

Its a good trade off, the whine of the s/c after the cai is installed is worth being more careful for puddles when ya drive..

what about matching the dray charger with that bypass thing u can get, would that make it better?

Also do you throw any codes with that intake?

If you are throwing a lean bank 1, typically the MAF is not reading correctly or you have a leak in the air intake system somewhere after the MAF.

well i know i cleaned the maf and check the system and all looks good...
hmm well ****..

so basically the maf tells the computer, "this much air is comin atcha...
and when it doesn't see that much air it tosses the p0171?

would it not do this instantly after resetting the comp...
or would it take so many ignition turns to do it?
because if i reset it, it comes back on after around 100 miles.

I am getting the same code on my car but it does not effect the way the car runs. I have a K&N air filter with air bok mod, a GM port and polished exhaust manafold, high flow cat, and a ACR carbon muffler. O and I had Wicked06ss tune the car, after he tuned it I didnt get the code for a month but now that it is in the 30s and 20 degres out side I am getting the code all the time.

i would deffinatly try to get it flashed back...

and if your running lean, that means there is too much air, not that theres not enough..

could be due to cold...

cold air = denser

Sounds like a vacuum leak somewhere and the engine is ingesting a bit of unmetered air...

the unmetered air would explain the code, but i dont think its a vacuum leak...

That wouldnt explain how the car is reacting, because the vacuum leak just wouldnt go away...

they may be two separate entities...
