Rear Sway Bar Question

Does the SS/SC have a rear sway bar? If so, what size is it?

P.S there is snow everywhere so I am not getting under the car to look/measure

doubtful - the ion redline doesn't.

all you'd have to do is look for a bar going from back left to back right wheels.

Yes, the ss/sc has one. This is copied from GM Service Information. I am not sure what diameter the SS/SC has.

"General Description
This vehicle has a semi-independent twist-beam rear suspension system consisting of the following components:

An axle with integral trailing arms
A V shaped twisting cross beam
Two coil springs
Two standard shock absorbers
An optional integrated stabilizer bar
The axle assembly attaches to the underbody through a rubber bushing and bracket located at the front of each integral trailing arm. The brackets are bolted to the underbody side rails. The axle structure itself maintains the geometrical relationship of the wheels relative to the centerline of the body. The optional stabilizer shaft is welded to the inside of the "V" shaped axle beam and is non-serviceable. "

Add a Progress bar, you won't be disappointed.

My SS/SC did not have a sway bar. When I went to install the Progress one there was nothing in it's place, was this an option from the factory to have a sway bar put in?

HUGE difference with a sway bar, it'd be the first thing I get.

I have been thinking about the Progress bar for a while. I think I will pick one up in the spring.

I thought only the base LS was the only model without a sway bar, I stand corrected. I am a little surprised. I don't remember a sway bar on the option list.

From what I can tell, the 2005 and 2006 SS/SC only have a front sway bar (called stabilizer bar in GM datasheet). The 2007 datasheet says front and rear stabilizer bar. I'm not entirely sure though.

This link goes to a strut bar, not a sway bar.

there is a "sway bar". It pretty much is hidden in the rear beam. With that being said, adding on a sway bar greatly improves the handling of the car. You can keep both the stock and the aftermarket peice on at the same time. I will be getting my progress bar in soon!

i know the cars are the same but i was wondering if the bars use the same holes...i.e. 1 bolt through both bars? or are there multiple holes that both bars are separately mounted to?

I believe that the stock "sway bar" (and i use that term loosely" is not mounted in the same location you would mount the progress/bwoody bar. I have no checked yet but I am 99% sure you can run stock sway with an aftermarket sway with a "torque foward" bar and a rear upper stress bar.
