Redline problem

Earlier today I went on the 202 bypass and decided to test the limits of the bolt sc. I floored it and redlined the car in 4th gear. The engine light went on and a sign came up that said "reducing engine power". The car made a weird noise and was bucking when i was driving. I pulled over turned the car off. I started it back up the sound was gone and the car drove fine. The only thing is the engine light is still on. Did I **** something up or will it go away eventually?

Get the code read and see what it was. Sounds strange to me. Mods? Miles?

The light came on when you hit the limiter, or during the pull? I saw something similar on a friends car, it turned out to be a bad Cam position sensor. Need to get the code read.

Its just a safety feature so you dont blow up I had the same thing happen when I accidentally down shifted into 2nd instead of shifting into 4th , it came on real quick but I caught it and popped it back into neutral before it fucked anything up.

No... no smell that I noticed. And mine did come on as I was accelerating... at maybe 4500rpm.

Go to Advance Auto or AutoZone. They'll read the codes for you.
