Relearn PCM for Stage II, how important is that?

Hello all,

I've been talking with OTTP and they've been extremely helpful and answered all my little questions. Our last convo, he said I need a "case relearn"

His exact words were:
To my knowledge that has not been a issue. The one thing you will need to do with a new pcm is get a case relearn done by the dealer or someone with a tech2. This lets the pcm learn the angle of the crank correctly.

Thanks,

Sean
***If you're curious what I asked, I asked if I remove the Torque Management does the car become unreliable.***

Sooo..... I went to MedVed (Chevy Dealer) and told them I need a case relearn quote and they looked at me funny. After some explaining they said go to a performance shop.... I went ahead and did that here in Colorado, Racing Trendz told me I have to go to a dealership.

I'm guessing no one knows what this is, I don't know what to do? I can ask Sean, but I thought those of you that had this done before may be able to help.

By the way here's my quote from Trendz for my Stage II install, what do you think of the price?

2.8" Smoothflow MPS = 180.00
60lb Flowmatched Injectors = 90.00
NGK 1 Step Colder Copper Plugs = 20.00
OTT Stage 2 PCM = 45.00
Install Torque Damper = 65.00
Install OTTP Heat Exchanger = 240.00
Relearn OTTP PCM = DEALER ONLY
Engine coolant = 20.00
Baseline dyno = 65.00
Total = 725.00

We'll need your car for 2 days.
So if you guys can please explain to me what a relearn is and how vital it is that'll be fantastic.

Thanks,

Vahdyx

Case Relearn can be done by the dealer (tech II) and someone with HPT. They dont need rights to your comp. since its under the scanner portion of the program.

That is way to much to spend on install. Why not do it yourself? You dont need the PCM just find a tuner with HPT and get a better tune.

No... not it's not....

*sigh*

Okay, I'll spend some time researching how to do it myself. Can you direct me to a link for How to Install a OTTP Stage II?

I found the GM how to.... is it even the same.

Yeah, I know I was gonna spend $1400 on this kit total, but I thought I had no choice

Holy ****! Yah I would do it yourself or find a member near you to help.

You will need metric sockets and some rachets. pulley puller if you have a stock blower pulley. 15 mm open ended wrench for the tensioner. There is not much more. haha. its only a few things.

You dont need the dyno unless they are tuning.
