Removing Stage 2 Pulley
Is there some kind of trick to removing the bolts on the supercharger pulley? I am extremely frustrated with this **** and the only thing I have accomplished is starting to strip the bolts. I used the tools provided in the kit too, but it appears the head only goes one way. Please help me out, I did a search with no results answering my question. Thanks
no help anywhere people???? Somebody has to know.

Its a Bitch! I had to apply force to the wrench & slowly Push harder & harder till they Popped!
You also have to hold the star key in Place by pushing in on it, so it dont walk out! For some reason the damn Techs are tighting to tight & using Lock tight! Only suppose to be 15lbs or 19lbs of torque.
I thought I was going to strip them to!

You are supposed to remove the SC to pull the pulley origionaly . U just might not be able to get the leverage you need with it in the car. its kinda tucked under the front sheet metal a bit. I don't think that plan is going to work with the whole opposite pressure thing, but all u can do is try it.

GM stage 2 pully specs:
-Torque to 15 ft/lb (22 newton metres) wich is dick.
If you're having that much trouble removing them.........it's a temperature issue or lock-tite has been used which is not specified by GM performance.

there are threads out there. i had the same problem and posted a thread quite a while ago. there was someone else that had the problem as well.
i cant be arsed to find the topic right now though. too lazy. you just need a lot of patience, force, and creativity. i dremeled a slit in the screws and used a massive screw driver head and a LOT of force. they come out eventually... then i just had to go to the local hardware store and get new bolts.
oh. mine had lock-tite and i was moving the entire car while torquing on the bolts. some of these dealerships don't know what they are doing.

I feel your pain, what I had to do was take mine back to the dealer. It's all still under warranty if they screw it up, at least at my dealer. I tried everything from an impact wrench to a breaker bar with a pipe for leverage and snap the bit for the phase II. What happens is the lock-tite that come on the bolt's with the phase II kit seize no matter the pressure put on them. Luckily the mechanic at the dealer to the charger back off the engine and got the bolt's out without a problem in less than 2 hrs of labor. It's it really frustrating when this is such an easy task. Good Luck!

i had been driving around 5-10 minutes previous to attempting the pulley removal. heat did not help in any way.
if you can just hold the pulley in place really well (i used vice grips and 2 ppl), you can really start torquing on the bolts. they will come eventually if you just put a ton of pressure on em.
overall, i think i spent about 4 hours just to remove 4 bolts. that includes all the different methods i tried and fabricating my own tool . interesting that this is a pretty common problem now.

Didnt think about the dremel Idea and a screwdriver idea, that may be the trick. I did try with the belt on and used a piece of wood to try to stop the pulley from moving and the piece of **** still spun. Ill atempt it again in a couple days. I got new bolts with my 2.8 pulley boys pulley so if I trash these piece of **** bolts gm provided i wouldnt care. Those are not going back on my vehicle ever.

wont that affect the pulley I take off??? The vice grips may bend the pulley slightly, I mean yea Im taking it off to but a 2.8 on but if I need warranty work done, they may say something about the pulley if I leave the 2.8 on, I got people working at dealerships to help me out tho.

instead, hold the pulley with your old, stock belt and clamp it together really tight on the pulley. that way you wreck the belt... and you really shouldnt ever need that (assuming you still have it). then you just need an extra person to hold the belt/pulley while you crank on the bolts. its a very frustrating process.
