Replaced shift linkage now no 5th gear

Replaced shift linkage now no 5th gear

I was having a problem with 2nd an 4th so I just replaced my shift linkage this morning and have all gears except 5th. I have tried adjusting but must be doin something wrong. Anyone wanna point me in the right direction?

Put it in 5th gear or reverse then adjust it, those are always the hardest to get into so you start there and see how 1st gear feels if it is good then your done.

Sound like its out of alignment still...... what shift linkage you upgraded too? twm?

I got replacement from Gm the install was easy but now my shifter feels super funny when I move it all the way to the right and up its in 3rd gear

Try adjusting the other linkage also maybe by replacing the one it affected the other one.

I replaced both of them.. I've been messing with it I put it in reverse and adjusted and it threw it way out of wack

How are you adjusting it? your using the little plastic clips right? or Twm metal clip?

also try reinstalling the linkage with the transmission in 4th gear..there should be no threads showing but play with how far the cable the cable goes into the linkage and try it out

From what i see its the linkage on the left you need to adjust, the one that moves left to right for the shifter. Because its not allowing you into 5th is because its of the left/right adjustment (left linkage).

thats what i thought too. Its so damn loose when its in 3rd it can move so damn freely its aggravating as can be lol

I just had this happen to me as well because I didn't get the metal linkage dealio tight enough and it slipped on the plastic threads. Put the car in 4th gear and set the right-side linkage so there is ~1/2" of steel cable showing. That's where mine is set and it shifts good into all gears.
