Rev Limiter

Ok you hit about 7000rpm on a stage 2 SS/SC and it falls flat on its face. This is because the computer restricts injection right? So can that actually hurt the engine? Your not in neutral reving the engine to redline with no where for the power to go, but youre just pushing it to the point where gm says no... is that damaging to the engine?

Noob Question i know...

I used to be a ford mustang gt guy... i just cant help it.

If you hit it when driving your not going to hurt your car. If you drive around with it bouncing off the limiter your going to have an issue, haha.

Just don't hit it and there won't be a problem

Come on thats no fun. the car pulls the best at high rpms it just makes you want to never shift in 2 and 3... 1st gear sucks ass. Stage 2 made 1st gear a little longer atleast from what i can tell but 2 and 3 is where its at. Seriously nothing bad will happen though... dont want to warp pistons or anything

I don't think a bounce or two at the top of first will hurt anything. The fuel cut off is there to protect the engine. You should be fine.

7000

7000 rpm is 7000 rpm whether you are powering the wheels or just revving in nuetral. The connecting rods, valvesprings, etc. don't know any difference.

Which is the normal rev limiter unless you have one of the Stage kits that reflashed the PCM to raise the limiter to 7000.

i know, but it seems like it would come on a little after red line. I drive my parents 06 ion 2.2 and the limiter comes on at 6700.

aren't these reflashing enforcing the rev limiter the same way they are stock? if so I don't see why it would ever be an issue.
