rods
I think Crower and someone else makes them. Why do you need them anyhow? Our stock rods are good for about 500hp anyhow. Hell, Paul just made 411whp on a stock engine with his turbo setup for that matter.

i was told the stockers are only good for like 350. hmmm. interesting.
BTW, this is from the build book
And....if you are going to change the pistons - you may as well chnge out the rods too - it is actually less work than having to swap all the parts over to the stock rods and reinstall. You just have to make sure that the rods are all the same weight, will accept the old bushings from the big end, and will have the proper clearance (side play) once installed.

You should start to think about upgrading at about 400hp. At 450hp, you will NEED to upgrade

Crower makes rods for our engines - www.crower.com download the catalogue and you will see that they have a direct fit for the 2.2 and LSJ.
Eagle makes rods too - might want to check their site also www.eaglerod.com
hope that helps!

crower - download the pdf for the rods (2008 version) - the 2.0/2.2 rods are located under the "sport compact" section in the pdf.

Yes. The crank is different.
The stock rods are the same dimensions - the LSJ rods are forged and alot stronger than the 2.2 rods - which are cast.

I thought the rods were different due to the piston pin size. You might want to check into that. Also the build book for the 2.2 has rods being replaced after 250hp, the LSJ build book says the rods are good for around 500 like I stated. Paul is at 411whp on his stock bottom end right now, so I do believe they are pretty damn strong!

You are correct - The new L61 book says to upgrade to the LSJ rods at 250hp...and to upgrade to aftermarket rods at 400hp. I am not sure how much of a safety margin is assumed with the build book. But I would bet money that if you go over 450hp on the LSJ rods, you are asking for trouble. On that note...you risk sleeve damage as well at those power levels.
Here is the rule with LSJ's: If you are planning 450BHP or more, you WILL REQUIRE upgraded pistons, rods, and sleeves on the bottom end...period.
We are currently working with a Rod Manufacture to get some Rods made for the LSJ Engines. We should have our first batch of LSJ Rods within the next 2 months to start shipping out. I will do my best to post some pictures of the Prototype LSJ Rod soon as I get one in my hands. The Rods will also come with ARP Hardware as well.
