s/c grease
well when you hone cylnders out the best way to clean them is with soapy water washing car parts in soapy water dosent hurt a thing as long as you dry them and relube the stuff needing it after your done
the best way is to use ATF when honing, cuz all it is is a heavy detergent. Using water in engine parts, especially parts that are meant to be left sealed, should always be your last alternative. there is brake clean, degreasers, and solvants.
well when you get a block back from the machine shop do you need to clean it yes you do all of the oil galleys need to be cleaned along with the bores drainbacks hot soapy water with dawn in it is the best way to clean with a galley brush then rinse with water then follow it up with compressed air to dry every thing out and then wipe the bores with oil and spray wd 40 or what ever you like in the oil passages drainbacks and anyplace you feel like ( i mask and paint my blocks after i give them a thorough was and dry the oil ) and when you have worked for a shop that all they do is build 50 to 100 grand dirt track engines you tend to pay attention to what goes on and how things are done

when you do a complete tear down, yup, i use water too, but coating everything in wd-40 is the key.
How long have you been driving like this? First thing i would do is stop driving until you can get that blower off the car. Order some grease and relube go from there. You would know if you are belt slipping, it would be a very high pitched squeal and there would be shavings by the snout.
i know my belt is slipping but there are no shavings by the snout. my god everyone. ok. stop posting here until i respond with what the grease does. the grease is on its way.
