Second gear blows
Is it just me or is the immediate shift from first to second a huge let down. First gear gets your hopes up just to feel like your crawling in second.
Its sweet when you downshift at about 53mph tho.....
I hope stg. 2 helps.

you get a little bog but S2 is totally different 3rd becomes the best pulling gear instead of 2nd. Intake and full exhaust and it will really pick the car up.

they designed our car for pulling trailers that's why...
if you have hp tuners then the best thing to do is turn down the boost in first it will be a little easier to control.
I agree though, first is way to short. I always friggen bounce it off the rev limiter if I'm not paying close attention

I agree. The problem is first gear is way too short and second is a bit too long. It's like there is a "dead spot" between first and second where if you don't take first to over 4k rpm its not exactly a powerful shifting point. I usually shift at about 3k and even then I have to use the clutch more just to get into second smoothly otherwise it stumbles and bogs.

2nd gear is perfect for cornering, and rolling starts. On the other hand, 1st gear is definitely designed for uphill tractor-pulls. Regardless, you will like what stage II does for the car. The bogging in 1st-to-2nd is less noticeable. Also, get an engine dampner or some strong engine mounts for a cleaner 1-to-2 shift.

Well, i've heard that our cars were supposed to be 6spd, but at last second they switched it to the 5spd. Don't know if this is true, but it would be interesting to see what the Balt would be like with 6 gears..
