Shift light?

I must say that after driving my Camaro then getting in my Cobalt it is way to easy to over rev.
In my LS1 I can pretty much tell when I need to shift by noise and speed, but in my Cobalt the engine sounds the same at 5,500 as it does at 6,500.
Didn't the Redlines get a ladder tach on the boost gauge pod?
I am still thinking of mounting a shift light some where in the gauge cluster.

Actually we do have one but I personally have never seen it come on. If you look at your (Hey Dummy Cluster) just above your turn signals if you look hard you can see the (+) which is the shift light. Can't tell ya how to make it go on though. I personally would hate it. I never liked it in my friends Cavy.

not sure how to do that but you should install 4 turbos, one for each cylinder and watch it flash like a christmas light
if u want to hook one up go to raptorperformance.com theres no rpm actavation switch or rpm chips or pills to screw with and its really small u can hide it almsot anywhere(in dash, a/c vents etc.), and its cheap i have installed plenty on friends 03-04 cobras, and later model ls1's, they adjust right on the side i recommend it big time if ur looking for a shift light
I just received my shift light from raptor performance. Have not installed it yet though (this weekend). I hate accidently hitting the rev limiter by accident since its hard to hear or feel it rev. One of the smoothest engines i have owned.

i think they disabled it on the SS models, seeing as how GM thinks we're probably going to know when to shift. unlike everybody else driving a manual, I'm sure they have completely forgotten at what point to upshift in their car.
Sheesh, I guess they think most people are idiots. it's bugged me in any car i've driven with a shift light

Here's an idea...
run a different set of wires to that shift light, such as from a NOS or alcohol injection kit, indicating when the system is enabled... the area is already built-in, and it'd be great for the 'clean/stock' look...
