shift light... What am i doing wrong?

So i just installed a MSD shift light.. i connected the power ground and rpm meter to the wire on coil 4... it measures everything perfect, but i have the shift light set at 6200 to come on... it starts blinking from like 4800 on... Why is it blinking so early???? did i do something wrong or is this light defective?

Do you have an MSD tach adapter? I know a lot of COP setups require the adapter.

i dont have an msd tach adapter.. i have the wire spliced in with the wire from the coil

shortstack-- no its really weird how it like blinks... it has no pattern at all... it starts randomly flashin from like 4800 on.. it does get solid, but it still is solid before 6200

you splice th wire into the coils, you hooked up a ground, you hooked up a power...is there 1 or 2 wires left over that are loop'd going backinto the shift light? if so they are your signal and you have to shorten them to make the signal closer.they usually flash when u shift and go solid when your past shift i beleave. try setting your shift point higher.

here ...this should help

is the tach signal set on 4cy...or whatever lsjs are supposed to be set on? is it happening in every gear? the tach is pretty slow to catch up in the first 2 gears.
