Shifter Bushings

I did a couple searches and came up empty. I ordered the Hurst Shifter, but I'm thinking about ordering the B&M for the bushings and then selling just the shifter to a local guy for a loss.

Is there any other way to get the bushings that come with the B&M shifter, or at least something that can replace the stock rubber ones? I've heard only good things about the bushings, and would rather not loose $100 for just the bushings. Cause thats just crazy..

I believe that is the point of this thread. We don't know if you can buy those bushings seperately from the B&M ST Kit...

Well I have a B&M shifter with a whole shifter assembly laying around and I have the bushings that come with the shifter.

It's sitting in a box and a total loss to me. The shifter was a flawed one that I bought from another forum member that I'm sure didn't know was flawed at the time. It works, but the reverse lockout dosnt work and I had to grind down part of the collar to get it to work. I hated that it wasn't perfect and that's why I went back to stock. I might be willing to part with the bushings. But I was wondering what people would pay for them. I posted the shifter in the parts section for sale, no one wanted to buy it.

Now that makes sense. Don't know what people would be willing to pay, but I'm certain you can find people willing to bid on it...

In all fairness i'm gonna see what NGalaxyTimmyo would be willing to pay for them since he was the first to enquire. Unless someone is interested in buying the complete shifter I have.

Yes the shifter works. Shifting into 5th and reverse bothered me. It wasn't as smooth as I thought it should be.

I had the inital problem of where I couldnt shift into 5th and Reverse. The reverse lockout collar on the shifter was too short to clear the shift assembly retainer. So I ground it down instead of adjusting the shift cables being that at the time I didn't know I could have adjusted the cables.

Supposedly I could have adjusted the shift cables so it would have been fine, according to other memebers whom had this problem and no grinding down would have been necessary.

If you have a SS/SC it will bolt right in as it is the whole assembly or you could take the shifter out of the assembly and put it in your shifter assembly and adjust the cables so you won't need to use the ground down retainer. Which would probably be better.

It was in my car for about 1 month.

I actually was reading your post and thinking about it at the time. I was going to PM you and ask if it came with the bushings. But since whoever up ahead asked first, I don't mind not being in the right place at the right time.

I figured I'd bring this up since from what i've heard it makes a big difference, and if we could get something going for us who ordered the hurst, maybe we all could have better shifts.

Maybe if we could send the bushings to a local parts maker someone could make a set that could sell for pretty cheap. That way they could get the exact dimensions and then we all make out well!

Might be confusing to me, I might just go for a new B&M shifter. Thanx anyways!

it's not really that confusing when your putting the shifter in. They practically pop out when you do it, so replacing them isn't that hard.

Sounds to me like you just needed to adjust the linkages in the shifter. There was no reason to starting hacking away the reverse lock-out. Many people have had this problem with the B&M and Hurst and adjusting it has solved their problems....
