Shifter Pops out of First Gear and Is Slow To Get Into Second
I've noticed that at least most of the time, when I push the clutch in to shift out of first and I start to pull the shifter back, the shifter almost jerks out of first gear.
Also, when I move the shifter past neutral and try to put it into second gear, its not easy to do. I almost have to shift halfway into second until I feel this kind of resistance, and then pull it in all the way. Its hard to explain but basically it is just difficult to shift into second gear. Like 3rd to 4th I can quickly shift, but 1st to 2nd takes almost forever.
Does anyone know whats going on or what I can do?

Pop up the up holders and look under, there are two "rods" which are connected to the bottom of your shifter which put your car in gear... check to make sure they are both snapped down in place because when I first my bought car I think it bounced around during shipping and those rods poped out of there holders...
Kind of hard to explain, but you will know what I mean when you look under the cup holders... if you try to go thru the gears while looking you should be able to see what happening and how to snap it back in place...
Hope this helps. I am not completely sure if this is your problem though.
I will admit, my car "pops" out of first and second if I am shifting really quickly sometimes but what I just told you above might help make second gear easier to get into if I am right.

What is the shift linkage? How can I troubleshoot to be sure and possibly fix it?
I have some knowledge, but when it comes to transmission stuff I'm lost for the most part.

This is a picture I just took of the rollpin. Is it supposed to be sticking out like that, or should it be flush?
