for short ram i'd go with K&N. But hey i like CAI better personally.

doesn't injen have both the CAI and SRI? all you have to do is re-arrange the original setup of your preference?

seizing your engine? Lol i think you'll be fine dude. but if you really want a Short ram go with K&N i hear nothing but the best. and i do believe INJEN makes short ram/cold air with one setup.

ok first off yes injen will change into SR if you want you just have to take of the last piece of piping and put the air filter back on, and second when i put my injen CAI on it was sectioned off behind the headlight in a seperate plastic box so i don't think you'll have to worry about hydrolock anytime soon unless you want to see if your car can swim and if your really concerned do what i did and get a splash shield and hydroshield pre-filter from injen i ve had it for 54,000 mi and i ve drove it through rain puddles etc. never had a problem

OMG here we go again. The only way you are going to seize your engine is if you completely submerge your intake filter, I don't get why everybody is all worried about it, especially since your intake sits about 2.5 FEET off the ground stock and only slightly lower if you have lowering springs or coilovers.

CLIFF NOTES: Only chance its gonna happen is if you drive thru 2 feet of water.

A K&N is in no way going to sound the same on a 2.2L I4 as it would on a 4.6L V8.

Stangs had a 4.6L V8 in 99, but yeah a 2.2 4 cyl will sound no where near a rumbling v8.

OP if you have the injen intake already, just make it a short ram intake instead of a CAI.

LMAO tell me where i typed that. no where did i say a k&N would make his 2.2 sound "mean" or a "Rumbling V8". Was just stating it sounded good. The k&N when i had it on my car as the drop in sounded nice. wasn't trying to compare noises from a v8 to a 4cyl. obviously the v8 would sound nicer. but the k&N would provide some noise.

Simplification: It will sound good, my friend has one on his mustang and it sounds good....

Sounds like a pretty direct comparison to me buddy.

Anyone notice the OP has a SS/SC? The K&N is not a short ram for the SS/SC, to my knowledge no one makes a short ram for the SS/SC...

that statement was supposed to be used as an analogy. comparitive NOT to the engine but to the k&N filter. At that time he was the only person i knew who had the k&N on his car sorry if i didn't come on this forum 10 years ago and look one of you guys up to see how it sounded. Better yet sorry if i didnt apply a youtube sound clip of it on a 2.2. Many things can sound pretty comparitive to that of the weak minded my friend =]
