a gt42 is one of the turbo choices for an 1000-1200hp 4 cyl drag car. a gt35 is a much better choice.

You should stil buy it. WTF thats a 2500$ turbo.

Just don't use it on your car. Sell it and make a grand or trade it for a 35R

It's a no-brainer.

You could probably trade for a 35r + 500 if you found the right person.

T3/T4 60-1 will get you there too. They are only about 700 new compared with a 35r which is around 1500.

well i found a turbonetics t3/4 60-1 $850 new +$350 for the ballbearing one. so thats about the same price as the gt3582r (1280$new). hmm decisions decisions.

how much faster will the ballbearing turbo spool? is it worth the xtra $?

What you really need to do is go to Garrett Turbo's site and do all the math to figure out where you want to be with your goals and then plot them on the compressor maps.

From the preliminary info you provided though, here is my thoughts. Borg Warner S256 extended tip, if you are looking for an oil only turbo, GT3071R if you are looking for a water cooled BB turbo. The 3071R spools a few hundred rpms sooner, but the S256 shines with more power per psi up top. I suggest the .55 A/R on the BW and the .63A/R on the 3071R.
