HAhaha one of those cheap ass ebay turbos.

Sorry bud, those blow the oil seals after about 20 miles.

The compressor housings are GLUED together. I'm serious, glued.

if you were smart you would get your tranny beefed up first then go out and do all your upgrades

I may have missed something but it's pretty hard to control boost without a wastegate. just a tip.

but yeah once you get the parts turbo setups go together pretty easy. as long as there is plenty of room for everything.

I think I'm going this route as well. I already have the Cometic Hedagasket and Golden Eagle headstuds. I was reading D-sport last night, and Turbonetics has new GT-K series turbos that are pretty advanced in technology. I think the GT-K 350 would be pefect for our application as it sits in the 350hp range for efficiency. It uses a T3 turbo flange as it's base, it comes with a special coating on the housing to keep the heat inside instead of letting it out for faster spool, and has cermic coated bearing to prevent the oil from getting heated up as much as normal turbo heat it. I'd just have to have a manifold made for it and an external wastgate, I can fab the downpipe and the induction pipe, BOV mount, and throttle body mount plate. I could use the aftercooler setup from the factory with an upgraded HE to cool it. I have dirty plans!

dont, go air to air. according to someone i know who already has this done, the boost from a turbo is much hotter. his AIT2 were high as hell.

What's the A/R ratios? Compressor vs. Turbine Spec? Trim? These things tell you how the turbo will perform and what RPM they will be effecient at.

Also, turbo's...if carefully installed & tuned right, will not produce anymore heat than the Eaton superchargers do at 20psi, like many Balt owners have already done on this website. Turbo's are generally more reliable than superchargers. Great thing is..if you buy a good manifold, intake and exhaust that is, and have a solid tune, the car will make the same power levels as before with only half the boost. 20psi turbo boost in just about any turbo larger than a GT28RS is damn near overkill on the streets, regardless of displacement on the engine.

I don't have the Mag here, but from doing some research, the trims were right in spec with what we need. I'll try to remember to look them up again tonight, and post them. I bet with a upgraded HE and water/meth injection, those temps would definately be low. There are many ways to skin a cat, I guess we all just have different ideas. I like the sleeper look, and I think I could pull it off this way.

Not quite. The cast in dimple is in the lower case girdle, not the oil pan. However, you can drill the oil pan for the return just as well. I have already done so. If you wish to use the dimple, be sure your intermediate shaft has enough clearance. I had to drill my pan due to the automatic trans.

The specs on the Turbonetics GT-K 350 are as follows:
Compresssor trim: HP50
Comp. wheel inducer dia.: 53.90mm
Comp wheel exducer dia.: 81.28mm
Comp A/R: .60
Inlet/Outler: 3" in / 2" out
Turbine Housing A/R: .63
turbine wheel inducer dia: 64.90mm
turbine wheel exducer dia: 53.85mm
Turbine wheel trim: F 1/2
Cermamic Ball bearings
High temp Ceramic Coating on the turbine housing
black chrome coating on the comp. housing
External wastegate configuration
Uses T3 flange
Has map porting enhancement to prevent compressor surge

I think this would be an awesome turbo for quick spool and around 350WHP. Now, the question is, does someone make a manifold w/ a T3 flange and external wastegaste for the ecotec? Then the next size up is the GT-K 450 for around 450whp. A little bit bigger, but still good for you crazy *****!

as far as manifold goes, and 2.2 ecotec header with a t3 flange will do the trick! What me and Laz worry about the most will be the piping.

CNFX makes one with an external wastegate config and the T3 flange from what I read. Their site is down right now though. The piping should be easy, unless your going aluminum. Then you'll need someone that can weld aluminum. I could use exhaust piping mendral u-bends from my buddy as he works/own the parts store, and weld them together in no time at all.

what we are gonna try to do is get as much of it welded as possible, use silicone couplers for bends and T clamp the hell out of it

If you're using exhaust pipe, put a continous bead around where the silicone couplers go. about a 1/4" back. Then the T-clamp right behind the bead. This ensures the couplers don't come off. My buddies WRX needed this treatment needless to say.
