Do you guys think a local shop could do my snout machining? because..
a) I dont want to have to send it away
b) I dont want to mess it up doing it myself
c) I dont want to pay a core charge

drive to a local machine shop and have them look at it. Most machine shops should have the tools required to do this for you pretty easily and at a low cost. I had the snout on my old M45 blower machined by my local machine shop for like $25 and it took about an hour, hope that helps!

I machined my snout this past week....I burnt out a drill doing it (with the ZZP tool). I could still smell the smoke from the drill for 3 days. If I have to do this again, I'll pay for it.

can you put the stock pulleys back on if you machine the snout?

Im a machinist, so I say leave machining of crucial engine parts to the pros. They will make sure that the cut is parallel and they wont over heat the metal which is very important. don't just tell them some random numberto cut it to, they won't believe you anyway, bring the stuff you want to put on and they will decide how much metal to remove.
