So How Bout the K&N Drop in Filter?

Its awesome that we've got the full CIA, but what about us who don't want to even give the dealership a reason to deny warrenty coverage...

Any word on the K&N Drop-In Replacement Filter for the 2.0 S/C

Thanks,
-Rich

You can already purchase one from many of the vendors on this site, but why would a CAI break warranty....unless it throws a code, or specifically caused the damage. They can only deny service if the add-on was responsible. In which case, I would think that the chances of a CAI and a Drop-in causing problem would be about the same.

Correct sir. A CAI, according to the TSB below, in itself, cannot void your warranty. However, an overly oiled re-useable air filter (i.e. K&N) may void the MAF sensor warranty.

The K&N everyone is using is not a drop-in and requires modifications to work. Not to mention due to it's size performance gains are limited.

I talked to K&N last week and they said a drop-in should be out soon.

If you want to use a K&N in the stock airbox wait for the right one to come out.

So it's pretty much a replacement filter? What kind of gains if any can you expect from just putting a New K&N filter in the stock airbox compared to the CAI?
