So, I've decided on a 2.7"

I believe I'm going to begin with getting a set of 60# injectors. Would the 2.7 be safe for daily driving? Current cooling mods I have is a Cobalt Addiction H/E. What else is recommended? Meth? Dual pass? Thanks.

Of course the more cooling mods the better as always but with the 2.7 you will be fine as long as you don't do multiple back-to-back track runs at wot. It is the 2.6 and lower that you actually NEED to start thinking about meth and more extreme cooling solutions.

Get some water wetter from Autozone or one of those stores. People may not give it much respect, but I did 11 runs in less than an hour and a half and my IAT's didnt get about 150 the whole night. That is my only cooling mod right now too. Just run it straight water and water wetter, if you live where it might freeze, it is probably good to put in some coolant.

comparing a 2.9 to a 2.7 in terms of heat ranks right up there with comparing an apple to a wet fart.

He has a way of doing that. There's a little button under his left armpit. If you push that in and disconnect the vacuum line to his intake, he'll stop. The bad news is that he'll start to stutter.

There's actually a way to tune out the stutter, but HPT doesn't support that parameter on his PCM.

I heard tell of a beta Area47.1.2 that may do just this.

I'm sorry. end jack...

I wouldn't run below stag 2 pulley without all the cooling mods. But that's me personally.

Not stalking, just bored. Stop posting in the threads I want to post in.

So that explains the smell. Does the Area47.1.2 beta have a PID to log that?

ok. on topic now.

Area, what would you suggest I get to run the 2.7 safely? Would it be alright for a DD?

I think with the proper cooling mods, he'll be fine with a 2.7.

0U812? I thought it was "C : <enter> : ###". Must be a different tune.

I personally liked the 2.7. Just make sure you have a good tune and you will be fine.

SJSchafer what did you end up putting down on the dyno?

You can get a ton of power off of a 2.8, 60's, cooling mods and a tune. Meth will really let you open it up. My meth kit got me up to 21* of timing with a bad meth mix and the cars still pulls like crazy, and I run a 2.85. I'll get more with a better mix. A smaller pulley is great, because of the extra boost, but a good PE curve, timing and a cool intake charge FTW. Do NOT go smaller than your current sized pulley without injectors.

Nah, you don't want to do that now.

Dude, you are on the right track with your current mods. You need cooling next. You have the HE. Put in a dual pass and a stage 1 meth kit and see how you like it. You should do those before you go any smaller on the pulley anyway.
