Some ?'s
Some ?'s
Ok yea i know i know i don't have a ss/sc well my friend wanted 2 know some things that does have one.
1. if he gets a tvs will the stage kits be compatible with it.
2. wat are some projections on power output if he has stage 3-4w/a tvs if compatible
3. wat are some times for the people that do have the tvs
4. wat are some other good mods other then mounts, stage, tvs, intake, exhaust, tires, wathermeth, spray was already considered but were not sure we want to blow it up
thanks

1. Stage kits.. no... this means it wont come with different sized injectors... but you can order different sized pulleys.. You should get 60 pound injectors with a TVS... this means you will need a tune as well..
2. ~300, more or less...
3. With some work (tuning) im sure you an hit 12s..
4. Turbo da bia!!!!

Ive heard the TVS needs a lot of time to get it to a high power goal.. there was someone on here having trouble hitting over 280 (it was all in the tune) with the TVS...
the thing is is that there are turbo systems that will spool a little faster than others, thus only having a half of second of difference in boost times...

Cool how do you like the turbo vs the supercharger?
turbos are more effiecent then any supercharger...simple as that.
most turbo's now aday can create power just as fast as a s/c
plus your not worrying about heating..
also..ALOT if not all TVS cases (cept for area's) i have seen break or blow up or requir alot of time and effort. turbo seems more efficent.

the tvs is more of an upgrade for those who prefer to stay with the supercharged layout. For me, when I swapped from the m62 to the tvs, it didn't require any tuning to get the car running. My car was a modified stage 2 with a 2.85" pulley and 60# fuel injectors. And I really don't remember many people having issues because of the blower. It was more or less with the engine block being neglected in some way.
thats what ive heard as well... i wasnt trying to say there were problems... i was just saying that it will take some work to get it to 400... if the tvs can even do that to be honest...
i havent converted yet, but i meant it more that i wanted to stay supercharged with the tvs, but decided to go turbo instead... if you just read around... its amazing, and i wanted to stay sc'd because everyone was going turbo... but i guess the bandwagon heads in the right direction some times, because if you research its the most efficient way to go...
hahn's lvl 5 kit sold me... that intake mani makes me f*k my g/f really hard at night...

I would love to own the tvs for a few monthes before actually going turbo... but just by looking at the spending cost, and the time you need to put into it, the turbo just makes up for itself for the extra 1000 or so dollars...
the dyno graphs of 375hp with the flick of a switch turns me on... and the noise of a blow off valve hits me in the pants more than the scream.. although i cant complain of that either...
the power surge of all those horses hitting you im guessing only 1 to 2 seconds later than the tvs hits around 80% to 85% of its boost will make you smile...
personally id say 330 on the tvs < 330 turbo..
^^ lol so true though...

I would be interested to know if the op has driven a 400hp car before...let alone a fairly light one. wheel spin and torque steer at 70, 80 and 90mph is interesting.
that would be pretty kick ass.. i love the twin charge setup... although... that damn intake manifold.. lol...
hat trick made those bad ass numbers experimenting, taking the time withtout over doing this mods...
that would be the time you would need with the TVS... really its a awesome upgrade, and may be able to reach your power goals (not sure about 400, 350 seems about right)... but im sure its a awesome 350 cause of the instant boost..
twin charge kit is a very good idea... that should be looked into... 350, with the instant boost untill the turbo kicks in and blows things away...
just with all the research ive done.. turbo is just be the better bang for the buck...

and thanks for the help guys we will take these all options into consideration
I've already gone into getting together the necessary mods done to really give the tvs a chance to flesh out what it can do. I've got an extra head for the porting and oversize valving needed for extra flow. I'm already tearing the block apart and replacing the pistons and head gasket.
The gmr cams and stronger valvetrain to handle a 8k rev range. And of course a full 3" exhaust.
I put down around 270whp just changing over from my stock blower to the tvs, and the car pulls way harder than you would think. The numbers have been there for a while, it's just the testers were tight lipped about it because it was so new. And the number that has been reached without having to go into the engine has been around 330- 350 with good tuning and a somewhat aggressive pulley size.
It really is just a swap and the blower doesn't get as hot as the m62. It is a upgrade specifically for those who want to keep the whine, though to a less extent. Your car will sound more like an aircraft then a loud ass kazoo. And it is definitely worth it.

I wish i had a place where i could do work like that... i would LOVE that! But unfortunatly, i just have no room...
I heard the sound is different, the whine from our cars is just insane...
The main thing for me is the time... If i could sit down and mess with the tvs, i would love to have it... but im just not sure if i could put the time that i would like (due to g/f who hates me spending $$, dammit) into the car tuning it...
I decided to wait for the turbo because it came with a tune, and all i would need is a nice boost controller to up my ante... personally i wish i could even tune the turbo, but thats the whole thing my g/f wont let me get is hptuners... and it sucks...
There is nothing wrong with sais TVS... its a awesome upgrade... its just all in how high you really wanna go, what you can live with, and how much time you really wanna put into it.
