Sputtering and power loss @ 3500 rpm
Sputtering and power loss @ 3500 rpm
Having a problem with acceleration. Car runs great below 3500 rpm. As soon as the supercharger boost cuts on at 3500 rpm, the car starts sputtering and trying to die. Suspecting a sensor or maf but not really sure. Engine light would come on but there are no codes stored when I go to read them. Have a new K&N airfilter but haven't changed anything else yet. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will check my hoses first (cheapest thing to fix) and then go from there. It gives me a start.
can anyone tell me where the MAF is located on a SC car?

its on ur air intake box u can take ur drivers side headlight and reach for it or u can take the splash sheild off that side " jack the car up and take the wheel off if u choose to then take all the screws and plugs " and u'l get to the MAF sensor "

Well I sprayed the hell out of the Mass Air Flow Meter and put it back in the car. It improved the symptoms but didn't fix them. My thoughts are the Mass Air Flow Meter is bad or was only part of the problem. I hit 3500 RPM and the car starts pinging and lose complete power. I may have to spend the $70.00 for a new Mass Air Flow Meter. I had the Mass Air Flow code stored in the computer before I pulled it so my money is on that.
dayyyum...well if the thats the code that's coming up then try a new one...these thing donn go bad that ofter but i guess its ur bad luck man :x and im assuming you already checked for vaccum leaks? !
Thanks for all the help guys. Next week I will buy a new one and install it. I will let you all know if it takes care of the problem. Bad luck I guess. Advance Auto has the MAF for $71 so its not outrageously expensive but enough to hurt a little.
Pretty Crazy. Turns out my car kept throwing P0068 code for mass airflow. The Catalytic Converter was so clogged, it was choking the motor. Thank God there was a recall so I didn't have to pay for it. Only had 71k miles so beware if it happens to you. Car runs perfect now.
