sqweak with new pulley

i just recently put on a 2.85 pulley and now i notice a loud sqweak coming from the belt below 1700 rpms. but when i give it some gas the sweak goes away.

any ideas what this could be?

the pulley is on a stg 2 style hub if that helps any

did you pop the hood and look at it while it was idling? Make sure everything is fit back right, like new pulley is tight, belt is snug, belt is aligned, etc.

sounds like your belt tensioner isn't putting enough pressure on the belt.... might try prying it up a little and see if that takes care of it.

I know my belt would actually slip a little when I went down to a 2.85

also, since you're running GM S2 tune, you might want to go up in size during the colder months anyway.... a 3.0 would probably run better

thanks for the ideas guys. i will certainly take a look at the tensioner. if that does not fix it i will go back to stock stg 2 pulley.

make sure the belt is on all the ribs properly on the AC compressor down low, not uncommon for it to slip off to the inside and cause a squeek and sometimes a squeel.

You could have possibly have the belt off one rib... this happened to me then it started sqeaking all the time, then the belt ripped... found out it was off one rib by the ac condenser.

Edit: Never mind lol.

Mine sqeaks a bit as the car warms up, everything is on right. I've come to the conclusion its because of A: a worn belt and B: my tensioner pulley is all effd up.

You have the GM kit, you should also have the belt.
