SS/TC boost gauge in IRL
SS/TC boost gauge in IRL
Hey guys, iver been meaning to post this up for a while, i installed a cobalt turbo gauge into my 04 ion redline. it functions and works, but the boost reads 5psi too high. so i am wondering if anyone has done this same swap into a ss/sc and had the same problem or not. if you did, did you just need to change out the boost solenoid?
any good ideas or concrete information is welcome

The S/C and T/C gauges are physically the exact same unit, save for the face. The difference is in the signal. The T/C sends its signal from the BCM (assumed. Its definitely not the PCM though), while the LSJ sends its signal directly from the PCM via circuit # 891 aka Pin 10, C3 connector on the LSJ's P12 PCM. Thus far nobody has come up with a way to modulate or alter the signal to make the T/C gauge work in the LSJ or vice versa.
To compound the issue, the LSJ's PCM is only 16-bit, so it can theoretically only send a signal equal to 255kpa. Since 30psi far exceeds 255kpa, even if the LSJ's programming could be modified to accommodate the LNF gauge, it could still only display up to about ~22.5psi.
I've talked to Bill@HPT, Vince@Trifecta, and another promising source. All of them have said it is possible, but the only one that has actually come up with anything is Vince. He has been so busy that testing this will take a while though. Rest assured this is something I have wanted for a LONG time, and will do my best to keep pressing the issue until we get it, even if the gauge only displays up to 22.5psi.
anyone put the turbo computer into the lsj yet? big retune obviously but not sure what stops it from happening? any deep dark secret? the direct injection is still the same number of injectors, triggered the same way so why cant you just swap the brain over and get a better computer that can follow the numbers all the way up?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure he's right. Not all 07's were 32bit... but I'm pretty sure that a large majority of them were.
Interceptor reads PSI all the time... not in/Hg like the Boost Gauge. -9psi is -18in/Hg. (- # psi X 2) = - # in/Hg
