Help me out...when crusing (my car is stock) at 80 mph my boost gauge measures at about 10-15psi vacuum...

I was just wondering what the boost was at with the gm stage 2 installed going 80 mph?

What about stage 2 with a 2.8inch pulley going 80 mph?

I'm just concerned about driving at 80 mph and being in boost that whole time. I usually travel around that speed on the highway...and don't want to be in boost. So any of your stage 2 guys that had any input, i'd apprieciate it!

I can't speak for Stage 2 owners but Stage 5 owners of the Intense Kit who are running 16-20 PSI are always in vaccum at that speed. usually about 10 < vaccum.

I've got GM's stage 2 and pulleyboy's 2.8 inch pulley and cruising between 70-80 I get about 10-15 inches mercury of vacuum if I'm on flat land.

The Eaton supercharger system incorporates a specially designed bypass valve, which is actuated by a vacuum motor near the throttle body, and recirculates the supercharger air flow when boost is not required. During typical driving conditions, the engine is under boost around 5% of the time, which means the remaining 95% of the time the engine is under vacuum, allowing for better fuel economy and a quieter ride. In addition, the helix angled rotors, along with specially designed inlet and outlet port geometry, also reduce pressure variations resulting in a smooth discharge flow and a lower level of noise during operation. The associated ducting and mounting used in installing the supercharger can play a major role in reducing the noise emitted by the supercharger.

Although if you are next to a wall or barricade and just under the point where you would be in boost, you will get kind of a growling sound. You are not in boost cruising at 80 on the highway. only if you open up the throttle more would you be in boost.

Thanks for the replys...I figured if you had a small pulley that you might reach close to boosting and that was a worry I had when going with a stage kit. I just don't want to over use the blower if I don't have to...if the stage kits would take the boost in to positives I would think twice of upgrading.

Thanks you answered my question!

hey nut sack, i already have my ss...just wondering about the stage kit if it created boost when driving straight (not up or down hills). I don't want to put any extra load on my engine/blower I put enough on it already...I paid for this car and plan on keeping it for awhile...forgive me for being cautious.
