Lightbulb Are stage 1 and 2 kits under rated???

Does stage 1 and 2 kits only give a 0-60mph of 5.7 and a 1/4mi of 13.8? Isnt that an understatement considering your adding a 20% increase in power to the engine? I mean if you do the math, in theory if all things remain constant, shouldnt that be a 20% decrease in 0-60mph and 1/4mi times? This would make the real times about: 0-60mph of 4.8sec and 1/4mi of about 12sec? I mean if it doesnt decrease the times this much, it should still be better that 5.7 and 13.8 right?

Problem is part of that gain gets sucked up by drag. You also have to catch traction to meet those numbers.

I still think it should be at most low fives, not this 5.7 garbage. A stock mustang gt does a 0-60 of 5.5 sec, Id certainly hope the stage 1 and 2 kits would bolster cobalt faster than this

Using some 1/4 mile calc. it showed with a 2900 Lbs car with 265HP (Stage 2) it would be any where around mid 13's

A Bone Stock Cobalt Sc/ss Does 0-60 In 5.9 Sec!!!!!! Look It Up From Car And Driver. They Know What They Are Talking About. The 6.1 Is Underated.

No that is not the way things work. by that calculation if you made 100% more horsepower you would have 100% decrease... not very likely... even if the SS/SC does have 400hp.

and at a 20% your probably getting to a little higher HP and still a little lower torque then an SRT-4..... They can run high 13s stock with a good driver. So the times seem pretty correct as far as the 1/4 is concerned... I dont even know if Ive heard of any stock SS/SC running lower then a 14.3 or 14.4..

Right.. every round of testing seems to yield improved times for this car. Nobody had any that were really broken in at the start with the 6.4 and 6.1sec 0-60 ratings.

5.9s is the current stock rating.

The ratings for the GM kits are based off of the 205HP rating for our cars. So basically only a dyno will hold all of the answers.

The GM kits will surpass the PsiFi kit.

Your 0-60 times are a little off. No way a stock mustang is that fast. MAYBE the new 300hp GTs. I would agree with the stock SS @ 6.1, and your going to need ~ 50hp to get to 5.7s. Low 5's are gonna take alot more HP.

And those calculators arn't very accurate. But they are better than G-Techs, lol. I'll have to pull out my last Motortrend and see what they have some cars listed at just for reference.

I think they have to be underrated just to be on the safe side if they say they can give x amount of power they have to deliver (or nobody will buy) so they will be on the safe side making sure that the advertised claim can be acheived in less than ideal conditions ..which means most people will get more horsepower..

I think our main problem is traction off the line. We need to increase throttle responce and work on our launches in order to yield better 0-60 and 1/4 times....

If stage 2 gets us to 265 crank HP rather then the stock 205...then a 13.8 is realistic. All the magazines i have read have clocks SS/SC at 0-60 in 5.9-6.1 and 1/4mile in 14.4-14.8 at just under 98mph.

So 265 HP would make for a high 13 second car...the 60mph time should be 5.2-5.5 though depending on tracktion.

I think i will pay the money for those upgrades...they are covered under warrenty and the ECU reflash shouldn't throw codes etc. It also will be garanteed HP...if GM says 265 then you will be getting at least 265.

Just to add to Ramps post, the two magazine tests that yielded 14.4 were at 99 & 100mph.

Personally the GM stage 2, if the numbers you guys are putting out there are correct, that's right where I want to be. Plus, hopefully it will not stress engine too much for better realiability!
