I took this from earlier posts

Dealer install on stage 2 appears to be between 2.5-3 hours. It takes awhile on the phone to get the VCI or whatever its called. Mine took 3 hours (tech took it for a drive in that time too).

I have put ~250 miles on my stage 2 kit. The whole tank of gas I averaged 23 mpg. When I reset it on the highway I was getting ~30mpg and of course I have put the hammer down in that time too.......

REPLY:
Yea, the recently published PARTEC time for Stage 2 is rediculous. The prima donna front line drivability techs that are best suited and trained to do this type of work will just refuse to do it for 1.5 (since the warranty flat-rate for the same operations is more than DOUBLE that) So then the job will just end up getting dispatched to a back-shop "Bubba" that's never opened the hood on an LSJ- So he CANT WAIT to do a Before/After roadtest your prize ride and very likely get axle grease all over your seats and doors! Whoever developed the op-time for the Stage 2 messed up IMO- THIS ISNT A SET OF RUNNING BOARDS! All it does is promote the tech to RUSH through the installation and potentially make mistakes and/or cause damage.

The injectors seem like they aren't a big deal if you just count the fasteners, BUT you DO need to do a few additional steps to do it safely (battery disconnect) and keep from leaking fuel all over your engine and wiring harnesses. Then a reflash typically takes .4-.5 at the best of times but it's taking a LOT longer on the Stage kits as you gotta phone 1-800-Techline (and usually wait on hold for 10) just to get the VCI code to install the software. Then afterwards you need to warm the engine to operating temperature, do a crankshaft variation relearn and road test to get the fuel trims moving in the right direction (they get reset during a reflash)

The pulley is totally a hit and miss. Maybe if GMPP would have issued a proper puller/installer to the dealers that could eliminate having to pull the supercharger, the 1.5 time allowance would be more realistic. (trust me they dont have one) So instead they are being advised to remove the supercharger completly and "rig" something up on the grubby old 20-ton press to remove and install the pulley.I can forsee all sorts of pulley damage and various pulley/sc problems at some dealers. I've also heard of at least one case of the SC bolts being stripped out from over-tightening with an air tool (again all because at that point the techncian is taking shortcuts as he's working on his own time for free at that point)

Total BS! Partec reps are gonna get an earful!!

ANSWER:
If you have your dealer's parts department call the PARTEC hotline, they'll find the listed time for Stage 1 is 1.0 hours, and Stage 2 is 1.5 hours.

If the dealer is doing this for the first time, you may have to work with them on it.

So if I do the install my self, the warranty is still intact correct? Granted I'll still have to bring the reflash code in...

Are you sure you want to do it yourself? I am just quoteing a post here. QUOTE The pulley is totally a hit and miss. MY OPINION I think a couple hundred for the total install is worth it besides you will need to pay a tech for the reflash anyway.

I have all of the puller tools that I'd need and the install seems so simple. spark plugs, and some belts, replace pulleys with puller? simple stuff w/o complications, but it sounds like people are having them. I'll debate on it after I get the quote from the guy.

I am from New Boston (out in the woods) and drive over the road for a small company out of Atlanta. I don't get home much so just over 2,000 miles on my 05 Redline. I am a DRIVER not a mechanic so for all the guys that can do the kits yourself that is great. It would probably take me 10 hours (I don't have the tools or press for the pulley anyway) then have it towed to Saturn to have them complete it. Sometimes a little money spent to have it done right is worth it. I am sure that many of you enjoy mechanics and are able to do it correct. I am not willing to take a chance. Let me know when you get that thing installed tityrous.

on the highway I am getting roughly 36~37 mpg when I used to get 32~34 without stage 2. In the city with stage 2 with normal driving I get about 27-30 mpg, spirited driving I get about 21-25 mpg.
