Stage 2 6500 or 7000???
when gm flashes your pcm they go onto the gm flash website, enter your vin, enter the number on the card in the stage 2 kit and the flash is downloaded directly from the gm database into the tech 2 and flashed into your car. the dealer cannot change anything in the tune, nor can they control if you get an old flash or a new one.
peak hp is at 6400rpm, however power doesnt fall much before 7000rpm. if you shift at 6500 your rpm falls out of the powerband for the next gear. 7000rpm is more desirable. if you get the stage 2 reflash and its at 6500rpm you could find someone with HP tuners and have it changed to 7000rpm.

well that sucks about the stage 2 6500 rpm rev limit. thank god i got mine back in 07' before they did this .... hey maybe you guys can get GM for false advertisement ?!? they used to state the increased rev limit, larger injectors, smaller pulley, and the tune .... i would be madder than hell if i didn't get the 7k rev limit ..... it really helps keep the car in its sweet spot.

only thing other than the GM Stage 2 I have in my car is a K&N filter (yes filter only) and I dont have any flutter. Then again I've only taken it that high twice, once on the test drive and a day ago after this post was created to make sure I wasn't crazy lol.
hmmmm..... I never got a flutter either. I wonder why people are experiencing that?
07 and older gm really can't pull the numbers to compare them. they can tell how many times it has been flashed, but not like the tattle tail as the 08-09's have

GM Stage 2+ here .... no flutter between 6500 - 7000rpms. she bulls like a bastard up to 6900 rpms or so before i shift to miss the limiter .... i have a cold air intake, extrude honed exhaust manifold, and redline water wetter in the h.e. (<- if you really wanna call that a supporting mod). try doin the air box mod or some exhaust mods .... your car might be choking up top .... if that doesnt help, your tune maybe off.
If your car is "almost bogging" on the 1-2 upshift, you need to work on your mad shifting skillz yo, lol. Bone stock with no mods at all and no reflash it should break the tires loose hard enough to induce occasional slight wheel hop on the 1-2 shift - I know mine does!
The 7k limiter is definately better though; keeps the car in the peak of the powerband through each shift (so worse spin into 2nd, lol) and even better - and totally indicative of excellent planning on GM's engineers part - are the ratiosvs 1/4 mile traps. ver notice how stock the car finishes RIGHT at the top of 3rd, can't quite get to the limiter before the traps? Add 30 or 4o hp, and you'd need to grab 4th, costing you a tenth or more... But Lo! What's this? They raise the limiter to exactly what 3rd needs to be at to get through the lights without another shift! Brilliant!
I bet it varies by VIN. That's the only sensible reason for some people to get the 6500 and others the 7k. And if GM knows that some cars have an issue revving higher and they know which cars, then they know what's wrong, and they know they don't want to fix it under warranty.

When did this happen and which version number of the tune did this start with? How many different tunes does GM actually even have for the stage 2 kit?
That sucks since I was going to get my stage 2 kit installed next month. Other than using something like HP tuners, is there any way that one can tell if the stage kit tune has been even installed correctly from the dealer? It seems to have been common in the past with dealers not installing the flash correctly, and without the 7000 RPM rev limiter it seems it will almost be impossible to tell if it was done correctly.

Can anyone who is om here and is a GM tech truly confirm whether or not the rev limit has been decreased to 6500, and if so when did they decrase it? Not trying to sound like a ***** but I am not believing this. I do not understand why they'd reduce a rev limiter becuase stage 2 is continuously making power up to 7000.
