Yes, you can retune it with HPTuners.

I believe so, but (someone correct me if I'm wrong) why would you want to buy GM Stage 2 if you have HPTuners and are going to tune it? Just buy a pulley, belt, injectors and tune it with HPTuners.

^^ excellent advice.

if you intend tuning your car anyway, dont spend all the money on stage 2.

the reason stage 2 costs more is its covered under GM warranty.
if your just gonna overwrite the tune, GM isnt gonna warranty it, and there would be no point paying for stage 2.

To keep your warrenty. Get your stage 2 kit installed at the dealer and get it registered with them. Then find someone with HPT and retune your car with the same set up or get a little smaller pulley. You wont see huge gains like going to 60#s but you will get imporved performance and fuel economy since the GM stage tune is so rich. Just my .02!

Bad advise. GM wont know if you over write the tune. When they install the stage 2 kit they register it and put a little sticker on your car. If you care about your warrenty do what I said. If you go with a smaller pully just get a black one that fits the GM hub. Your dealer will not know the difference.

Im sorry. Your advise is not bad. Just not accurate. Going with a GM Stage 2 is a great way to get started. Get that warranty sticker on your car and do what you want from there. At least you have a better chance of getting warrenty work done to your car.

Or save $200 and go with an intense kit or a custom tune with HPT. The when your power windows stop working the dealer will say "To bad. We can't help you!" idk

GM didn't up their warranties to 100K because nobody cared about them.

They are not supposed to but it has happened to some people. Not the window specifically but something not related to the engine. It all depends on your dealer. Everyone knows that each dealer handles things differently.

Im sorry but I probably should have kept my opinion to myself. But with all the people blowing their engines with 60# injectors I just thought I would give another point of view. Also, I see a lot of new owners get advise to buy 60s and look for someone to tune their car. Then 6 months later they sell the injectors because they never get them installed.

I think the GMPP stage kits are perfect for most people. For those who are very mechanically inclined and are interested in pushing their engines to the break point then HPT is for you.

I agree with you there, the GMPP kits are great for power, reliability, and warranty combination.

And I wont do 60#s without us figuring out the problem with cyl 4, i'll be sticking very close to my stage 2... might only change to the stage3 pulley and do cooling, other than that it will be suspension mods and the rest of the exhaust

I can understand people wanting to stick with the GM warranty. I guess that is acceptable. I was in no way saying that they should jump straight to 60's and a small pulley. But (warranty aside) I would think you could get a much better deal for a 3.0" - 2.9" pulley, belt, stage 2 injectors, and a custom HPTuners' tune and save money, as well as probably have a better/stronger running car than a GM stage 2. Just my opinion.

Is it true that GM would not know you 're-tuned' their GM stage 2? I would think they would have a way to see the difference in tunes, no? Dunno, just asking.

Well I'm not woried about the warrenty... I bought my car in aug. 2007 and I already have +36k miles on the car(109 miles to work one way)... so my warrenty is no more(2006 vehicle) Maybe I will have to look into piecing together a kit if it will save me money... anyone know what HP tuners flashes are going for from someone who already has it?
