in my opinion, i didnt feel as much of a difference as i was expecting, and the car should have came like this stock. the car is deffinatly faster but i guess i was expecting more, just go with new era performance's $400 deal that gets you 60lb injectors , 2.8" pulley and custom tune. or be on the unsafe side and swap a 2.8" pulley into the stage 2 box and have the dealer install it, then you'll feel a better difference. but the better deal is New Era Performance no doubt. in my mind

swaping the pulley's was a good idea though,i don't think my dealer would know the differance.
speaking of differance, will the 2.8 be that noticable over the stage 2 pulley?.

yessir the 2.8 deffinatly does, getting about 15psi at 4grand compared to 12psi at 4 grand helps alot. plus the best i could muster with my current mods minus the 2.8 was 14.105@ 105mph. after i changed the pulley i ran a 13.7@ 104.88. i did get a little better traction but i also hit the rev limiter in 2nd gear on that run. and the other bonus about having the stage 2 tune(though it could possibly hurt you're car from high IDCs do a search) is that if the dealer cant tell the difference of the stage 2 pulley and the 2.8 you are still under warrentee hence when my shifter pin broke on my 2nd run i got it fixed for free! they misdiagnosed it and got me a free tranny too. very lucky.

you'll notice a little but not as big as going from stock to stg 2. Also, be careful if you do go with gm stage 2 with a 2.8" pulley. I wouldn't go any smaller than 2.9" on that setup because their have been a few cases of the injectors maxing out so be careful with that. Also, I would have the dealer install any thing different than gm parts for you cause if they do notice a difference in that pulley that could void your warranty.

2.9" is completely safe, but i love my 2.8. its you're call and you're car. after september i'm getting my 60lb injectors and tune from new era performance and it will be completly safe then (IDC wise), and i'll have a rev limit at 7200 ,and limited boost in 1st gear for better traction. all for $300. i havnt heard of any engines blowing up b/c of the 2.8" pulley on the stage 2 tune but i cant say its impossible.

haha if you're going that low might as well get the 2.8. the only time where idcs are a problem is higher rpms at wide open throttle, you could always let off a little at the top of the tac or shift earler than 7 grand. in all reality, i'm pretty sure that wont happen, i keep it pegged all the way up to 7 and love it. hopefully it doesnt bite me in the ass, but at the moment it feels worth the risk hah

Nates pulleys are amazing! best deal you can get for a stage 2 cobalt.

The 2.85" pulley seems to be working flawless for me. With this and my other mods low 13's are a breeze.

I don't limit boost for better traction, I just put drag radials on at 15 psi. End of traction problem. Using anything other than drag radials with a modded engine of course will have traction problems.

Limit boost in 1st? Thats going backwards....

First thing I did after stage 2 installation was find the onramp to the hiway, put it in 2nd and went 30-70 WOT, that was where I noticed the difference.

Still debating the smaller pulley by nate but its ohhh so tempting. Still reading about it in my spare time, I'm in no hurry.
